I recently had the pleasure of dining at a charming and quaint restaurant in Italy, Wood 55, and the experience was truly unforgettable. Though it’s not a tourist hotspot, it warmly embraces both locals and people from different races and cultures, making it a hidden gem. Daniela, the owner, is the heart and soul of the restaurant. From the moment my sister and I walked in, he made us feel like we were at home, offering hospitality that was second to none. Even though English isn’t his first language, Daniela guided us seamlessly through the menu, making thoughtful suggestions without allowing us to overorder, which was greatly appreciated.
For appetizers, we started with the fried jalapeños, insalata mista, and a beautiful tartare. Each dish was impeccably prepared, fresh, and full of flavor. For the main course, we enjoyed the ribeye and the club sandwich, both cooked to perfection. The ribeye was juicy and tender, while the club sandwich was a delightful surprise – a perfect balance of flavors. Although we skipped dessert, we indulged in some delicious dessert wines and a dry white Prosecco, whose name, unfortunately, escapes me. Still, the Prosecco paired beautifully with our meal.
Beyond the exquisite food, what truly made the experience special was Daniela’s warmth and attentiveness. He took the time to take photos with us, complimented us, and made sure we had everything we needed. It felt like we were dining in the home of an old friend, where we were completely free to be ourselves. This was the first restaurant I’ve dined at in Italy where I felt truly welcomed, comfortable, and seen. The ambiance of the restaurant is cozy and bespoke, creating an intimate atmosphere that enhances the entire dining experience.
I would travel from America once a month just to enjoy this level of hospitality again. Daniela and his team set a standard of service that is hard to match. I highly recommend Wood 55 to anyone seeking not just a meal, but an experience that feels like home...
Read moreWhen you are visiting the town of Casale Sul Sile by car or by boat, you need to stop in at Wood55. It is a short walk from the city center or a quick drive. I have been coming here since I moved to Italy last year and from the first day I walked in, I felt like a local. The staff was welcoming and if you don't speak Italian very well they do not have a problem speaking English with you. The food is great, from burgers, ribs to steaks and a few things in between, so far everything has been delicious and the prices are great. They have a few beers on tap, one of them is a great stout. Also they have a great cocktail menu and obviously wine. Parking in Italy can be a challenge but 50 meters from Wood55 there is a shopping center that has plenty of parking. If you are looking to try something a little different from the typical pasta and pizza, Wood55 is the place...
