La Scogliera — Restaurant in Castellabate

The sea view here is absolutely breathtaking, and the whole place has a charming, scenic atmosphere. No surprise it gets crowded in the evenings - so it's definitely a good idea to make a reservation.

We started with the Parmigiana and the fried cod - both were very good. Unfortunately, things went downhill from there. It took more than an hour for our main courses to arrive, and the service during that time was inattentive at best. When my tuna finally came, it was a real letdown: I had asked for it medium, but it was completely overcooked, dry, and frankly disappointing. That dish didn’t even deserve one star.

Perhaps others have better luck – maybe it was just a bad day. But my impression is that the kitchen seemed poorly organized, and the service staff might have been overwhelmed or too...

La peggiore esperienza della mia vita in un ristorante. Abbiamo chiamato per prenotare in questo ristorante tanto rinomato. Ci è stato detto che c’era disponibilità per un tavolo da otto persone, ma ci è stato chiesto di essere puntuali alle 14:00. Infatti, siamo arrivati puntuali e ci siamo seduti al tavolo. Dopo aver ordinato, abbiamo aspettato circa un’ora prima che arrivassero le pietanze.

Avevamo scelto cinque primi piatti diversi. Eravamo in otto. Tra questi, gli gnocchi con zucchine e gamberi: dove il pomodoro neanche veniva menzionato. Una vera porcheria. Le zucchine erano cotte male e risultavano amare, il pomodoro sembrava un pelato crudo, completamente immangiabile. Il piatto è stato lasciato praticamente intatto, perché nessuno è riuscito a mangiarlo.

Gli altri piatti come le tagliatelle alla bolognese (pasta completamente scotta, senza sale, insapore), gli spaghetti con le vongole (con due vongole in croce e un filo d’olio), e i paccheri ai frutti di mare (galleggianti in un brodino insapore con frutti di mare congelati) sono stati mangiati solo in parte, più per fame che per gusto. Nemmeno uno dei piatti era ben fatto.

Fortunatamente non avevamo ordinato i secondi. Sinceramente, non abbiamo mangiato con piacere e alcuni non hanno mangiato affatto. Mi sono alzato dal tavolo e sono andato alla cassa per pagare. Solo dopo aver saldato il conto, ho espresso il mio disappunto per il servizio e la qualità del cibo. A quel punto, in modo arrogante, mi è stato offerto un rimborso totale, ma l’ho rifiutato, perché non cercavo un risarcimento, ma volevo semplicemente far notare la gravità della situazione e la totale mancanza di professionalità. Alla fine ci siamo fermati in un supermercato e ci siamo cucinati qualcosa a casa, pur di mangiare decentemente.

Un ristorante così ambito, affacciato sul mare, con prezzi esorbitanti… e non sono nemmeno in grado di cucinare. Una delusione che non mi è mai capitata in vita mia. Non ci tornerò mai più e vi sconsiglio...

La Scogliera is hands down the best seafood restaurant in town, a true gem nestled right by the water. Dining here feels like an enchanting experience as you’re literally eating on the sea, with waves gently lapping around you. The fish is not only incredibly fresh but prepared to perfection, bursting with flavors that celebrate the region’s culinary heritage. We loved it so much that we returned twice, once for dinner and once for lunch! The owner, Felice, is warm and welcoming, and he graciously offered us limoncello or amaro to cap off each meal. This place is a must-visit, and we can’t wait...
