Bar Excalibur — Restaurant in Castheddu/Castelsardo

We ate here 2x during our stay. First we arrived at 18:35 and staff were very welcoming and offered us to take a seat and have a drink until the kitchen opens at 19:00. Had a nice chat with the waiter who speaks fluent English (just moved back from Leeds). Lovely guy, recommended some amazing places to visit whilst we're in Sardinia. We were not given bread with our drinks, didn't mention. Looks like on this island if you have pizza only you don't get bread although as far as we're aware you're supposed to get bread any time. We had pizzas (as always), prices are good, pizzas are very tasty!! Ordered some chips too, they were not good, could have fried them a bit longer. They seemed to be frozen chips as almost everywhere we've been so far. Also the size was not too big either and cost €4. Dont recommend the chips here. Shared a panna cotta as dessert, mmmhhh very tasty 😋 Our 2nd visit we got here after 20:00. The owner was about this time he greeted us as well which I appreciate very much. He was out and about the whole time being busy chatting to customers, greeting them and making sure everything is going well 👍🏻 We ordered a glass of wine and beer and some water. Also shared prosciutto e melone for starter (€10) it was very delicious. This time we didn't have pizzas, had ravioli filled with ricotta and spaghetti carbonara. Needless to say we got a basket of bread haha! Shared a seadas as dessert, it was well made but not sure it was to my taste.

Authentische sardische Küche auf hohem Niveau

Während unseres knapp zweiwöchigen Urlaubs in Lu Bagnu/Castelsardo hatten wir das große Vergnügen, das Restaurant Excalibur mehrfach zu besuchen. Was dieses Restaurant so besonders macht, ist das perfekte Zusammenspiel von authentischer sardischer Küche, erstklassigem Service und einem sehr guten Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis.

Bereits beim Betreten des Restaurants fühlt man sich sofort willkommen. Das Team, angefangen vom Chef über das Servicepersonal bis hin zur Küchenmannschaft, versteht es, den Gästen eine warme und gastfreundliche Atmosphäre zu bieten. Die Bedienung ist aufmerksam, ohne aufdringlich zu wirken.

Die Küche des Excalibur setzt auf sardische Authentizität, wobei großer Wert auf regionale und saisonale Produkte gelegt wird. Die Zutaten sind immer frisch, was sich in jedem Bissen widerspiegelt. Egal, ob es sich um fangfrischen Fisch, hausgemachte Pasta oder köstliche Fleischgerichte handelt – die Qualität der Produkte und die Liebe zum Detail bei der Zubereitung sind unübersehbar.

Das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis im Excalibur ist sehr gut. Hier stimmt beides: die hohe Qualität der Küche und ein fairer Preis.

Insgesamt ist das Excalibur ein echter Geheimtipp für alle, die sardische Küche in ihrer besten Form erleben möchten. Authentisch, frisch und mit einem großen Augenmerk auf die Zufriedenheit der Gäste – dieses Restaurant werden wir in bester Erinnerung behalten und bei unserem nächsten Aufenthalt sicher wieder(holt) besuchen.

Fazit: Hervorragender Service, authentische sardische Küche mit Fokus auf Qualität und Frische sowie ein sehr gutes Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis machen das Excalibur zu einem Muss für jeden, der in der Region Castelsardo unterwegs ist und dafür auch einen Umweg in Kauf...

We went there to eat two times in a group of 6. The first time everyone only had a first course. The food was good, especially the fish ravioli. The second time I desided to eat the 8 antipasti menu. The waitress informed us that the menu consists of 6 cold antipasti and 2 warm. However after the first 6, which were served on one plate, we got the first warm course and were informed that this is already the eight course. This problem was then easily resolved by talking to the other waiter and providing photographic evidence of the first plate.
