We dined here last night and were initially offered a table by the road by the African waiter but fortunately the maitre d’hotel over rode his offer and gave us one with a better sea view. Fabulous sitting on the terrace watching the wonderful sunset but terrible service and terrible food for the price. Having to ask for bread “ per fare la scarpetta “ was embarrassing as no bread was offered at all until I asked for some. There was hardly any fish in my pasta dish for 18 euros and as they had no wine list or house wines, I fortunately declined to order some as it is hardly reassuring ordering things without being informed of the prices. The diners at the table next to us were very loudly complaining about no fish in their order too so the staff was fortunate that I didn’t join in with complaints otherwise I think the maitre d’ hotel would have been very stressed out. There are no napkins on the table which is most unusual for a restaurant. And be sure to take your own toilet paper as another diner( a local Italian) had to ask for it and she got napkins to use but as I am not Italian, on asking immediately after she had asked, they feigned incomprehension. A few hours after dining, I had nausea and terrible stomach cramps and ended up vomiting during the night. So if you want to lose some weight from food poisoning, do make sure you go to this restaurant!! Better care of customers, local and foreign is always the best policy for any...
Read moreDO NOT GO THERE ! DO NOT GO THERE ! Me and my family went there and is the worst service ever. We first waited 15mins for a place to sit and the waiter didn’t let us even sit next the view and said “ is a four person table you can’t sit there “ so then he made sit to place somewhat far away from the view that was also a FOUR PERSON TABLE ! So then we wait again another 20-ish minutes for the menu . Then the bread came but they gave us all the ends and the tops and some of them looked is for dogs . Plus they didn’t gave us the pepper salt and olive oil . And before they gave us the bread . A waiter was walking by me with a million plates and dropped it right on my head and back . Tbh that hurt s a lot and they didn’t even have us a discount or anything . After that we waited again for 1 and a half hours for the main course which my pasta was undercooked but all the food was very delicious . And they offer underage wine . The place is very pretty but there is lizard on the wall which I think should be fixed ( removed them ) when my family and I was waiting we literally wanted to eat ourselves and made us think I have mental health issues . Time should be fixed we arrived 20;00 and left at 22:37 -ish . And all the time we were waiting and last 10%? we were eating . And there is only three waiter but basically two because one of them act like he had lost his memory. And lastly the chef doesn’t wear a hat so her hair might go...
Read moreI did a cooking course here and t was fantastic. Excellent display of local produce and the best way to use it.
We were served prosecco through the course and made a variety of classic Sicilian dishes and got the story behind the food.
Their caponata was excellent and some of the best I have ever had. The panella were made fresh and the wines made by the owner.
Only downside was that the cooking course involved more of the story of the restaurant and it's accolades than the food and the cooking. That said I had a great time and would wxommend it as an excellent Sicilian experience. The becach nearby was also much nicer than cefalu.
70 euro per head for the cooking course - prepare...
