The only things in favour I can say are - convenient location, pleasant bar and good restaurant.||||The main problem with this hotel is the management / owners, and their staff who were about as unwelcoming and unfriendly as I have seen anywhere. I did not see a single smile all week.||||Worse than that, the owners seem to have completely forgotten that they have guests staying above their bar/restaurant, evidenced by the lack of a proper reception area nor any member of staff who saw it as his/her responsibility to deal with hotel guests. When I reported some problems with my room (eg; fridge and TV not working, shower head broken) I was forced to complain to several different staff, about 5 in all, none of whom were interested in helping and all gave me a frosty and indignant reaction, it took 3 days before the repairs wer done.||||On another day I found that my door key, which I handed to the one member of staff on duty as I left the hotel in the early morning, was sitting on the bar counter when I returned in the afternoon. When I complained, the wife of the owner stormed over to me and began screaming at me in Italian at the top of her voice. It took an animated discussion with her son to break the tension (but no apology was forthcoming). The next day I found that my cleaner had left wide open all day the door of my room, and one other member of party had the same problem, again no reasons or apologies were forthcoming. And if that wasn't enough, I was overcharged for a meal in the restaurant, and it took a heated argument with the waiter before they admitted the error. ||||Other complaints - (1) Another guest in my group asked for a supply of shampoo. He was told it was not the hotel's policy to give shampoo over and above what was in the "welcome pack". (2) the towels provided were cheap and nasty, the sort you would only use in kitchen.||||Never have I experienced such ill-feeling from a stay in any hotel anywhere. It was the one black spot in an otherwise fantastic...

Read moreWe sat outside in the evening and ordered Greek salad and schnitzel. The Greek salad consisted of a small pile of lettuce, sprinkled with very few cubes of feta and red onions. No tomatoes. The schnitzel was overcooked. The bread, as part of the coperto e pane was stale. I told them I wouldn't eat it and therefore wouldn't pay for it, so it was taken away. A storm was brewing (but didn't materialise) so all the umbrellas were understandably taken down, everyone disappeared and we were left without being offered any dessert. We had to search for someone to pay and lo and behold, there was the stale bread, still on the bill. I objected and an argument ensued, during which I was told "of course it's stale, it was made this morning"! Avoid the place, there are plenty of smaller, very pleasant cafes and restaurants in the vicinity, none of whom argue with their customers and all of whom will appreciate...
