The experience was excellent both in term of the plates, the service and the overall feeling of the place. Every plate was well balanced and tasty almost inviting you to ask for a second portion of each of them. The service was impeccable, from the wine suggestion to the timing of the orders, to the friendly and professional behavior. The tables outside are on a semi busy road but still well insulated in the restaurant allowing you to have brief views of the nearby mountain. Overall a great experience.

Ein unvergessliches Fine-Dining-Erlebnis in der Altstadt von Riva del Garda Wir hatten einen ganz besonderen Abend im La Canva Bistro Mediterraneo. Schon beim Ankommen spürt man die Liebe zum Detail – sowohl im Service als auch in der Küche. Der Inhaber lebt Gastronomie mit Leidenschaft, was sich in jeder Begegnung und in jedem Teller widerspiegelt. Wir entschieden uns für das Degustationsmenü (5 Gänge, 60 €), das uns mit Raffinesse und Regionalität begeistert hat: Den Auftakt machte ein Gruß aus der Küche, der unsere Vorfreude sofort weckte. Danach folgte ein Focaccia mit Rindertatar, Käsefondue und schwarzem Trüffel – unglaublich aromatisch und perfekt abgestimmt. Weiter ging es mit hausgemachten Pasta mit Trüffel. Die geschmorte Rinderbacke auf Selleriecreme, mit Cardoncelli-Pilzen und lila Kartoffelchips war butterzart und intensiv im Geschmack. Abgerundet wurde das Menü mit einem köstlichen Dessert – optisch wie geschmacklich ein Gedicht. Begleitet wurde das Menü durch eine exzellente Weinempfehlung – ein Pinot Noir, der wunderbar harmonierte und den Abend perfekt abrundete. Das stilvolle Ambiente in einer kleinen Gasse der Altstadt von Riva del Garda hat den Abend zusätzlich besonders gemacht. Wir haben uns rundum wohlgefühlt und können dieses Bistro aus tiefster Überzeugung weiterempfehlen. Ein Ort für Genießer mit Sinn für Qualität, Authentizität und Leidenschaft.

Sono rimasta impressionata quando il mio compagno, abituato da sempre a girare mille ristoranti tra trattorie, bistrot e altro anche per lavoro (quindi molto esigente), ha pronunciato la frase "Il miglior ristorante di pesce in cui sia mai stato". Siamo stati accolti in una saletta intima, dal gusto moderno ma che non tralasciava dettagli più alla mano, come botti di vino in legno e un muro completamente in pietra che certamente suggerivano quello che poi sarebbe stato il menù: un perfetto connubio tra tradizione e creatività. Dopo un amuse bouche di benvenuto offerta dal ristorante, abbiamo proseguito con le pietanze riportate in foto. Certamente c'è da fare un plauso al tonno alla Wellington, che era divino. Il vino bianco d'accompagnamento scelto da noi era delizioso, e si legava perfettamente con tutte le pietanze di pesce da noi ordinate. Per concludere due caffè accompagnati da un altro piccolo regalo dello staff: due brownies fatti in casa da loro. Il conto giustissimo e precisamente proporzionato alla qualità dei prodotti e all' inventiva dello chef, non avrei mai voluto pagare di meno. Personale cortesissimo e attento all'esigenza dei clienti: nel tavolo a fianco a noi una coppia aveva richiesto un fuori menù adatto alla loro bimba piccola, e la cucina li ha subito accontentati con un purè e della carne adatta alla sua età. DA PROVARE!

My wife and me came to La Caneva Bistrot Mediterraneo by a (very) fortunate mistake. It was our second night in Riva del Garda in March, and the restaurant we were headed to turned out to be closed until April. Luckily, there was an open restaurant nearby, and luckily, they had one free table for two (it was Sunday night). What can I say?.. The food, made by the chef Nicola, is AMAZING and reasonably priced. Dishes are being served by his lovely wife Maria and her assistants (Hi Virginia!), who provided exceptionally friendly and attentive service. We spent there our last two evenings in Riva del Garda (wish we knew about this place earlier) and we would definitely dine there more if we could. We tried a good amount of dishes there (6 in the first night, 7 in second), each dish was exceptional in it's own way. We wish Maria and Nicola lots of success in the future and hope to come one day again to this...

Thank you for two amazing evenings!!! This restaurant is the best 🏆: great atmosphere, warm and professional service and the food is AMAZING - Everything!!! We ordered there too much, as we wanted to try as much as possible and thinking about it now, two weeks later, I don't understand how we managed to eat EVERYTHING, but we did it, as it was veeeery tasty 😋💕🎊.

Nicola and Maria, good luck in your family business, you are the best, both in your personallity and professionalism!!! Virginia, thank you too!!! You did a great job and there is much more to say, but it's already too long :)))

Hope that we'll be again one day in Italy, in this beautiful city and surely we'll visit your restaurant again. Hope to meet all of you and surely, we'll order the table in your place for every single evening...

We booked a table online. The restaurant somehow lost our reservation and asked us to come back in 30 minutes. When we came back we still had to wait, and then they placed us on a table between the toilet door and the kitchen door even if there was another table free. We got moved to the better table but still didn’t get to order. Meanwhile a table that sat down after us got to place their order. After another 20 minutes of waiting we walked out. If you mess up so much you should at least make sure your customers get to order, I can understand that you are busy but I didn’t even see an effort to serve us! One of the worst restaurant experiences I ever had!! And one of the few times I walked out from a place!! They could have told us to come back some other time instead of making us...
