Ristorante Sostaga — Restaurant in Comunità Montana Parco Alto Garda bresciano

We dined at this restaurant and opted for the 95-euro tasting menu for each of us. The menu included three starters, two first courses, a main dish, and a dessert, with all selections needing to be the same except for the dessert. The restaurant is beautifully designed with a stunning view. The dishes were flavorful and beautifully presented. However, we encountered an issue with the main course.

For the main course we both ordered the veal escalope, but to our surprise, we received only a single portion: the waitress served two plates—one with the escalope and a side dish, and the other with only the side dish. She explained that we were expected to share the escalope. However, the escalope was a single piece with a rib, suitable as a portion for one person, not for sharing. This left us feeling like we did not get one main course.

This left us disappointed and fell short of our expectations for a tasting menu at this...

One word: Wow!

Food: We had dinnere at Sostago and were blown away. The menu has classic italian food bit also with some twists to make it interesting and every dish worked out perfectly. Even the frothy butter that goes with the bread was a highlight. Price wise it was also very respectable. It was among the top dinner I had so far.

Location: It begins with the entry to the Villa Sostago. It is a one way street that follows a narrow road through the mountain side with great views on the lake. At the end the old Soatago villa comes into place. We felt straight out from a James Bond movie. Crazy. Inside it follows the theme. The Atmosphere is very welcome and the dining area is super cozy with great views. Great knowladgeable staff. The whole evening...

Ich glaube, ich habe mich noch nie so unwohl in einem Restaurant gefühlt. Die Tische stehen sehr dicht im Wintergarten. In dem anderen Gastraum stehen zwei Weinkühlschränke,die sehr laut brummen. Die Beleuchtung ist ungemütlich, kalt. Wir waren die einzigen Gäste. Drei Kellner "bemühten" sich um uns, was wir als eher aufdringlich empfanden. Der eine räumte von links ab, der andere gleichzeitig von rechts,ich fühlte mich bedrängt. Ein Kellner postierte sich wie ein Aufpasser mit verschränkten Armen im Türrahmen, der andere hampelte rum , weil ihm natürlich langweilig war. Der andere war nicht immer zu sehen, was schade war, denn offensichtlich war er der erfahrenste und dienstälteste und hätte zumindest dafür sorgen können, dass die beiden Küken etwas mehr Stil und Diskretion an den Tag legen. Am unangenehmsten war der "Aufpasser", der zusammen mit dem Brummen und dieser fürchterlichen Beleuchtung den ganzen Abend versaute. Das Essen war okay. Die Preise der Speisekarte, die bei GoogleMaps angezeigt werden sind nicht aktuell. Das Restaurant nennt sich Gourmetrestaurant, kocht allerdings wenig inspiriert und langweilig. Der Gruß aus der Küche wurde lediglich hingestellt ohne weitere Erläuterungen. Der insalata mista kam mit Dosenmais! Das sagt schon viel. Die Preisgestaltung war u.E. nicht gerechtfertigt. Wir können das Restaurant in den kühlen Monaten und bei hohen Erwartungen an die Kochkunst nicht empfehlen. Draußen sitzt man bestimmt ganz nett.

Nachtrag nach dem pikierten Kommentar des Inhabers: wenn man seine Gäste nicht ernst nimmt und keine Kritik vertragen kann, sollte man dies nicht noch öffentlich "bekanntgeben", was Sie hier jedoch bei jeder wenig begeisterten Bewertung tun. Das allein ist schon unsympathisch genug und stillos. Und noch ein Tip: eine Übersetzungsapp...
