Ristorante Pizzeria le Guardie — Restaurant in Costermano sul Garda

Food was good, service was disappointing.

Ok so when we went to the restaurant to reserve a table, we asked if we could have a specific table with view of the lake (and they told us we could have it), but when we arrived at the restaurant the day of the reservation, the table we reserved was already taken. This started a bit of a discussion with the staff and onto that our name wasn’t even on the reservation list. It was also obvious that the staff was “gossiping”/talking about us in Italian which was a bit uncomfortable. In the end they did give us a different table with lake view (even though they strictly told us those tables are only for 2 people and we were three.). That was nice.

The food was good. We had the pistachio salmon and tuna with onions, as well as the Maccheroni alla Norcina. The Macaroni did remind me of Leberknödelsuppe (Liver dumpling soup) which was a bit disappointing. (I usually like the soup but I didn’t want my noodles to taste like meat soup) Others might like it though!

We also had the meat and cheese board which had a good variety! I can also recommend the pizza bread.

One last thing: the amount of cheese was atrocious. 😂 it was a few sprinkles of cheese.

La vista è sempre impagabile, ma il cibo non è all'altezza!! Deludente il menù degustazione di carne: una caprese misera, una pasta al pomodoro piccante (piatti che ognuno si può fare tranquillamente a casa) e un filetto di maialino salato e troppo cotto e senza contorno (non si possono definire contorno 2 fettine di melanzana ripiegate: sono una decorazione!). 25 € sono decisamente troppi per questo menù! Avendo lavorato nell'ambiente ristorativo, in un menù degustazione ci si aspetta di trovare piatti che normalmente non prenderesti, piatti golosi che devono far venire voglia di tornare. Il menù degustazione è la presentazione del locale! Se la presentazione è questa non ci si può aspettare di meglio del resto. Abbiamo scelto sulla fiducia perché sul menu non era specificato cosa portavano col menù degustazione. Non prendetelo: è una fregatura. Mentre uscivano dalla cucina guardavo anche i piatti degli altri tavoli (c'era anche un banchetto): il profumo era buono, ma l'impiattamento era basico e povero. I tris di antipasti del banchetto erano tutti diversi!!! Non mi sembra difficile centrare 3 cose su un piatto con un minimo di senso estetico! C'era chi aveva la caprese gigante e chi la intravedeva sul piatto. Stessa cosa per il carpaccio: c'era chi aveva una montagna di rucola e chi aveva una montagna di grana... Il personale è gentile e il servizio abbastanza veloce, ma deve fare più attenzione ai dettagli (le nostre tovaglie erano rovescie). Il prezzo pagato è stato decisamente troppo alto per ciò che abbiamo mangiato. Siamo tornati in questo locale dopo circa 10 anni per provare il menù di questa gestione e prenotare un eventuale banchetto, ma non siamo stati soddisfatti e lo prenoteremo in un altro locale. Il consiglio è quello di ridurre i piatti del menù (c'è troppa scelta e quando c'è troppa scelta si fanno meno attenzione ai dettagli) e farli girare girare più spesso in base agli ingredienti di stagione. Trauriger Service und durcheinander. Man hat das Lokal 2x besucht. Beim ersten Mal hat das gepasst. Man dachte ok dann noch mal. Beim zweiten Mal eine unglaubliche Serie an Fehlern. SA ist viel los - aber das sollte auch dem Betreiber bekannt sein.

Ein Tisch für 4 Personen - man signalisiert das geht. Dann kommen weitere Leute - u.a. 4 Italiener. Dort werden extra 2 Tische beste Lage und Blick zusammen geschoben. Dann kommt der Cameriere und meint das sind schon Reservierungen es dauert 10 Min. Komisch warum schiebt man 2 Tische die zuvor frei werden für "Lokals" zusammen? Dann sagt man das auch gleich.

Gut - nach kurzer Weile gibt es einen Tisch. Wir müssen nach verständnisvollen Warten mehrmals darauf hinweisen wann man bestellen darf. Davor nimmt man die Bestellung am Nebentisch auf, die nach uns kamen um danach quer durch das lokal woanders zu sein.

Dann die Bestellung - hurra. Das groß angepriesene Kloster Scheyern Weißbier kommt 2× falsch. Wurde aber anstandslos umgetauscht.

Nudeln - Primi Piatti - werden auf den Tisch gestellt um festzustellen, dass es falsch ist.

Nach dem 1. Gang denkt man - kommt da noch was? Ok das Secondi Piatti wurde einfach vergessen!

Der einzige Lichtblick - die sympathische Südtiroler Bedienung, die das kapierte aber nicht das leitende Personal.

Fazit:

Man ist ordentlich gekleidet und z.B. als Mann mit langer Hose erschienen fragt und wenn möglich auch auf italienisch. Für 80 bis 120 EUR Rechnung gibt es genügend bessere Alternativen. Das Essen ist akzeptabel und maximal Standard. Aber kein Grund das zu ertragen und Geld zu versenken weil italienische Gastronomen meinen dumme Touristen kommen sowieso immer wieder. Wir...
