We went to La Giara last night. I was with mum and dad. We arrived very early, being English we eat slightly earlier!. We wanted no fuss food as my dad likes chips . Although my Italian is terrible we were helped to choose , understand the menu. The only thing we discovered was that we should have ordered french fries for my dad as he ended up with what we call crisps!. It was our fault and part of the experience. Although I am gluten free they offered to give me rice, change menu slightly but I think I was more restricted to what I could have but that's normal. There's alot of choice and it's where the locals eat. Families were starting to arrive and their pizzas looked amazing. When our food arrived the portions were so generous!. We were given olive oil and vinegar and there were packets of ketchup etc. There was also a generous amount of bread although I couldn't eat it. The food was tasty, simple and classic Italian at a very good price. The atmosphere was relaxed and it was easy to just enjoy . At the end we were given take away boxes so we didn't waste anything. Mum can have some pasta for lunch today !. Thankyou for the great service and food , I want to come again if we ever feel hungry again! This is what we came to Italy...

The icing on the cake was when the waiter tried to rip us off, charging us for 2 bottles of wine instead of 2 glasses. He tried to say it was an accident but it clearly wasn’t. Avoid...
Read moreAfter 30 hours of travel, this was the perfect first stop in Puglia! The pizza was absolutely delicious (I had the Escoleta so good). Service was warm, friendly, and impeccable. The local wine paired beautifully, and the house-made limoncello-crafted right from the trees in their courtyard-was the perfect finish. A magical September evening under the stars, and such a memorable welcome to Italy....
