Il Contadino Gourmet — Restaurant in Fermo

Avoid! Most awful food I had for many years. Almost nothing was fresh! It is clearly tourist oriented place to come once, spend a lot as it is expensive place. Basing on reviews we have taken deli ready food which looks delicious- hoping to have breakfast feast. We have spent €60 to find out food doesn’t live to expectations. We value food and don’t like wasting, but this food was simply awful and not possible to eat. No single thing was good but most importantly almost nothing was fresh! Almost all of it landed in the bin. Now with €60 wasted, we need to find another place for breakfast. Absolute shambles.

EDIT Owner responded stating for example: “As for the freshness of our products, we do not accept any type of complaint. The counter from which you chose the products is renewed every day all day.”

Just giving example of Greek salad: cucumber was very bitter and I had to spit it out. Similar for tomatoes. The whole salad tasted like done day before and not something I would eat even as leftover at home to avoid food waste. From the whole Greek salad I have eaten only few pieces of feta and olives and thrown everything else. And this is just one example of salads we ordered.

With regard to the owner suggesting that we should have asked to preheat some of the foods like chicken and fish- I disagree. In past I enjoyed cold fish or chicken home leftovers and they were tasty. Whereas anything we tried on that day was simply tasteless and awful- thrown away after 1st bite, I don’t believe heating up would help.

I would suggest the owner to try his own food and check quality as oppose to twisting honest customer opinion and arrogantly dismissing quality issues raised. Maybe we had bad luck and maybe it is high quality place indeed. But undisputedly we have thrown lots of food to bin and clearly there were freshness issues, whether the owner likes/admits it or not.

I fully stand by my review and 1 star given, as I don’t feel my experience matches level of quality you would expect from place with such high average...

Food look amazing but that’s it. We took various salads and meats from ready meals and ended up throwing most of it away as it wasn’t good at all. Old salads which tasted bad, meat wasn’t fresh too. Even bread was stale and hard. The only good one was the watermelon cut into pieces, which was a rip out, 13 euro...

Ho avuto il piacere di visitare più volte Il Contadino Gourmet a Lido di Fermo e posso dire che è un vero gioiello per chi cerca qualità e tranquillità. Ho acquistato prodotti selezionati con cura e ho pranzato sul posto, scegliendo tra i prodotti della gastronomia e, a volte, i primi piatti del giorno (che vi consiglio). Un'altra esperienza che ho avuto modo di provare è l' aperitivo dove salumi e formaggi sono di alta qualità accompagnati da un vino consigliato dal cameriere, il tutto ad un ottimo rapporto qualità-prezzo. L'atmosfera è rilassante e piacevole,il personale è estremamente cordiale e disponibile per soddisfare qualsiasi richiesta .
