Ahoy Bistrot Siciliano — Restaurant in Giardini-Naxos

The cooking classes offered by chef mimo were entertaining, but the amount of food offerred was minimal. We had to share a small portion of spaghetti and pesto pasta -( sauce that we didn’t even make)between 2! All we did was chop the ingredients and make pasta! The experience was fun and the atmosphere good, but food wasn’t enough and felt hungry afterwards. A small fish dish and 2 small pasta dishes do not make a large meal! Luckily there was free bread and the complementary free wine, which was not expensive Sicilian wine shown at the bar, but wine I saw being visibly poured from a cheap carton.

Giardini Naxos ist ein wunderschöner Ort am Fusse Taormina. Die schöne Promenade ist ein Blickfang und ein romantischer Ort zum Verweilen. Hier findet sich das Restaurant Ahoy, dass vor allem mit einheimischer Küche besticht, aber auch moderne Küche anbietet. Das freundliche Personal berät gerne und erklärt gerne die hiesigen Gerichte. Hier werden frische Zutaten verwendet, hervorragendes sizilianisches Meersalz zum Menü serviert sowie alle angebotenen Produkte in der eigenen Küche hergestellt. Selbst das Brot und die Burgerbuns sind selbst gebacken. Ich habe einen Burger mit Pommes gegessen, wobei zu erwähnen ist, dass die Pommes nicht triefend fettig waren, sondern wunderbar knusprig und aromatisch, perfekt frittiert. Meine Begleitung hat sich den Schwertfisch alla palermitana mit einem herrlich frischen Fenchel-Orangensalat ausgesucht, eine bekannte Spezialität Siziliens. Sie war begeistert. Wer gute sizilianische Küche geniessen und dennoch die Touristenregionen nicht verlassen möchte, ist hier genau richtig. Ein herzliches Dankeschön an das Team, wir kommen gerne wieder ☺️.

Giardini Naxos è una splendida cittadina ai piedi di Taormina. Ha un bellissimo lungomare ed è un'attrazione per non dire un luogo romantico dove soffermarsi. Proprio qui si trova il ristorante Ahoy, specializzato in cucina locale, che offre anche piatti moderni. Il personale gentilissimo ci tiene a spiegare i piatti locali per chi non li conosce. In questo ristorante si utilizzano ingredienti freschi. Un ottimo sale marino siciliano viene servito con il menu. Particolarmente tutti i piatti del menù sono stati cucinati al momento nella cucina del ristorante. Pensate, che perfino il pane e i panini per gli hamburger sono fatti in casa. Io ho preso un hamburger con patatine fritte, e esclamo felicissimo, che le patatine non erano grasse, ma meravigliosamente croccanti e saporite, perfettamente fritte. Mia sorella ha scelto il pesce spada alla palermitana con una freschissima insalata di finocchi e arance, nota specialità siciliana. Ne è rimasta entusiasta. Se volete gustare la buona cucina siciliana senza allontanarvi dalle zone turistiche, questo è il posto che fa per voi. Un grande GRAZIE al team competente in tutti gli effetti!...

Our family had an unforgettable Pizza and Cannoli making experience in Sicily, and it was undoubtedly the highlight of our trip. Chef Mimmo, the owner, was incredible with us and our two young daughters. From the moment we were picked up and later dropped off in luxury vehicles, we felt like VIPs.

The food was not only delicious but also abundant—we had plenty to take back to our hotel and share with newfound friends. Everything that came out of the kitchen looked spectacular, and it's no wonder the restaurant was the busiest on the strip.
