Morgenrot — Restaurant in Gressoney-La-Trinité

Summary: Too pricy for the quality of the food and the service.

Our dinner in that restaurant disappointed my boyfriend (who is a local) and me quite a lot. To start with, the service was very long. Hard to get the attention of waiters even when not too far, my boyfriend had to stand up and go look for them several times to ask something. The menu was on a table close to ours, so we could take it ourselves, otherwise we would even have waited more. He ordered a glass of wine but was served only half of an average portion. Regarding the food, we were first disappointed by the bread that was dry and not really good, the same bread as the one we could buy in the supermarket closeby. For a restaurant of this standard we were expecting a bit more. The pasta we took were good, but the porcini tagliatelle were nothing special, maybe lacked a bit of taste. We were still enjoying our dinner, until something quite odd happened. My boyfriend ordered a piece of meat topped with cheese and truffles. He just started eating it, when realising that something was moving: there were living worms. We signaled it to the staff, they were sorry and brought us a new plate. But after this episode, my boyfriend had lost his appetite, knowing that he probably ate worms. I think that this kind of incident can happen in every restaurant, so here is not the problem. However, besides excuses, no gesture was made to compensate us for the inconveniences. We still paid the full price (more than 50€ per person). Just offering the desert would have been appreciated and we would have felt more sincerity in the excuses. Ci siamo recati in questo ristorante consigliato dall hotel e inciraggiati dai feedback di tripadvisor. Non siamo nuovi da queste parti e sappiamo che il luogo offre poco e discreto in quanto a ristorazione, ma stranamente non conoscevamo il locale. Si sale con il gatto (puntualita impeccabile). Il locale si presenta curato e ben rifinito. Non proprio la classica baita spartana da salsiccia e polenta. Il menu non e troppo vario ma invitante e di cucina prevalentemente valdostana rivisitata in modo chic. Il servizio e stato veloce e i camerieri gentili (c erano pero poche persone, da testare a locale affollato). I piatti erano ben curati, gustosi e personalmente li ho trovati ottimi. Infine classici zuccherini e liquore offerti. Il prezzo l ho trovato assolutamente in line con la qualita che si sa, va pagata. 75 euro in due con 2 antipasti, 2 primi, 1 dolce, 2 caffe e 2 bicchieri di vino. Non ho guardato la carta dei vini, non so se possa alzare di molto l asticella. Serata piacevole e da ripetere sicuramente. Durante la mia recente esperienza al Rifugio Morgenrot di Gressoney-la-Trinité, ho avuto il piacere di cenare in alta quota, immerso in un’atmosfera unica. Il servizio di trasporto gratuito offerto dal rifugio, che mi ha prelevato direttamente dall’hotel e riportato indietro senza costi aggiuntivi, è stato estremamente comodo e puntuale, evitando lunghe attese per formare gruppi con altri ospiti. Il cibo servito è stato semplicemente delizioso; probabilmente il miglior ristorante nella zona di Gressoney. Ogni piatto era preparato con cura e attenzione ai dettagli, riflettendo l’alta qualità degli ingredienti utilizzati. Il personale si è dimostrato incredibilmente gentile e disponibile, contribuendo a rendere l’esperienza ancora più piacevole. Sebbene i prezzi siano leggermente elevati, ritengo che il costo sia giustificato dalla qualità delle pietanze offerte e dal servizio impeccabile.
