I was having a hard time finding this place because I was trying to find a building but couldn't - because it's underground! This restaurant has a very unique feel. Because it's underground so it feels like a bomb shelter or a church hiding from persecution but yet the place is very warm and comfortable. I wasn't very hungry so I only got their pasta - tortellini I think. It was HUGE. The ragu gave the pasta its taste because the pasta itself was really bland. They have a good spread of bread though. I paid €10 for the pasta, €2 for the water & €2 cover charge. I'd say the prices are a bit high because I came from Ravenna & Florence & they served great pasta at only about €6.50 to €8 and they were better O must say. An extraordinary location under the wall around the beautiful city of Grosseto, exactly near to the main entrance in Corso Carducci. Easy to find, with a parking space, you walk down the stairs and suddenly you find yourself one century in the past. Under the massive walls, there is a magic place. An entire part of the restaurant is full of fabuolus bottle of wine, underlining the enoteca style of the place. Please, ask for the "cucchi salad" and the truffle. The "tagliata" and the excellent "salsiccia with beans" will be delicious. Wine is a must and you can have the help of the staff....

Locale scelto su suggerimento di persone del posto, situato in posizione centrale e ambientazione gradevole caratterizzata da archi in pietra. Si viene accolti con gentilezza e l’eleganza pur se semplice rimane un plus. La carta menu offre una carrellata di primi e secondi tipici della zona con la presenza anche di qualche poccola variazione. L’antipasto della casa è tradizionale ma con prodotti freschi e buoni. Ho voluto provare la guancia al montepulciano e nello sceglierla mi sono confrontato con l’oste (forse il proprietario) ricordando che nutrivo aspettative molto alte rispetto ad una precedente esperienza fatta in Piemonte. Il risultato finale è stato buono ma non è riuscito ad esaudire a pieno il mio desiderio di rivivere un esperienza top. Gli ingredienti e la carne offerti di alto livello ma qualcosa è mancato. Ci ho riflettuto un po’ e l’ho anche condiviso a latere, molto probabilmente il calice di vino suggerito tra le due scelte da me indicate ha finito per sovrastare la delicatezza del piatto. Si potrebbe obiettare che si sta filosofeggiando ma se ci mette in competizione bisogna poi accettare l’opinione pur se soggettiva. A proposito di vino e calice l’unica pecca che non mi ha fatto dare 5 stelle all’esperienza è dovuta proprio al calice: in qualsiasi locale e in particolar modo dove ci sono decine di bottiglie ed etichette anche pregiate, la mescita andrebbe fatta al tavolo permettendo di vedere l’etichetta anche se aperta e non portando il bicchiere già riempito e senza bottiglia.
