Papavera — Restaurant in Lerici

Best gelato in Italy! So good, in fact, that my husband and I went there 3 times in 24 hours! Unlike other gelatos we've had through-out our 3 week visit to Italy, the ones served at Papavera tasted lighter, creamier yet more full flavored than others we've tried, even there in Lerici. The owner took pride in telling us how they make this gelato by hand each day and when they run out of a flavor, they run out. Our favorites were the Caffe (note that it has hazelnuts in it), Fiore di Latte, Carpe Diem, and Stracciatella, We highly recommend Papavera! Please go visit them, you will not be...

The pistachio gelato here is unparalleled. One of the best things I've eaten. Definitely the best pistachio gelato I've ever had (and Iver had a lot). Probably the best gelato/ice cream I've ever tried. The coconut Gelato was also banging, and the Bruxelles waffle was sublime. I should add a small disclaimer that I have had one better Bruxelles waffle when I was in Belgium... But, to be fair, that is to be expected. Top notch. Do yourself a favour and walk past all the other gelato...

Mi spiace ma non tornerò più qui! Premetto che sono anni che compro, per me e la mia famiglia il gelato in questa gelateria e non ho mai avuto problemi; Due sere fa ho preso il classico cono cioccolato fondente e carpe Diem, tutto a posto, ieri sera ho replicato sempre con cioccolato fondente e frutti di bosco, dopo qualche assaggio mi accorgo che il cioccolato fondente ha un retrogusto strano, quasi di ammoniaca ( notare che non sto dicendo che ci fosse all'interno l'ammoniaca, parlo solo di sensazione per spiegare il retrogusto strano, metallico e quasi di cloro) faccio assaggiare il gelato a mio marito e a mia suocera, anche loro notano un retrogusto strano, entro in gelateria semplicemente per confrontarmi con loro e fare notare questa cosa... La ragazza assaggia e dice che è tutto a posto, spiego la mia sensazione di retrogusto e la signora in TONO SGARBATO mi zittisce dicendomi che il gelato è buonissimo e che è IMPOSSIBILE che abbia un gusto strano. Spiego che anche la sera precedente ho preso il cioccolato fondente e che aveva un sapore diverso. Ma niente, mi hanno zittita e basta. Ho dovuto buttare via il gelato. Lerici è piena di gelaterie, non tornerò più e non consiglierò più questa gelateria. Ora, io non ho preteso nulla, ho solo fatto notare questa cosa. Da parte loro non c'è stato nessuna intenzione di "andare incontro" al cliente. Davvero un pessimo...
