Ristorante L'Iconicella — Restaurant in Lettomanoppello

Was visiting Rome and decided to drive out to Lettomanoppello to visit where my great great grandparents came from. Stopped in here for lunch, the staff (family owned and run) and the patrons were extremely welcoming too me. I got the carbonara which was amazing and the table next to me let me try some of their sagne e ceci con peperone crusco and it was just as good! Ended the lunch with a caffè and conversation with the family who owns the restaurant and said goodbye to my new friends from the table next to me. There are no words to describe this typical Italian trattoria… this is everything you ever wished for… the food, the service, the atmosphere… everything describes the whole country in one restaurant… everytime we visit Abruzzo, we come to dine here… no exception made!!! The pasta is out of this world… the boscaiola, the “pasta cecci”, the raviolli… the carbonara… All the menu.. even writing this review makes me want to jump in my car and drive to Lettomanoppello 🫶🏻 I highly recommend...

La Trattoria L’Iconcella è esattamente ciò che il nome lascia immaginare: un posto rustico, circondato da persone semplici e genuine, proprio come i loro piatti. L’abbiamo scoperta grazie a un amico del posto che ce l’ha consigliata come una classica trattoria abruzzese. Nonostante fossimo arrivati tardi (erano le 14:30), ci hanno accolti senza problemi, cosa che non tutte le cucine avrebbero fatto a quell’ora. Abbiamo preso un antipasto da dividere e due primi: tagliatelle con piselli, funghi e tartufo, e tortellini ricotta e spinaci al sugo. Le porzioni sono state davvero abbondanti, ci hanno portato due fiamminghe enormi da dividere in tre… ma ce l’abbiamo messa tutta per fare onore allo chef, e ce l’abbiamo fatta! A fine pranzo caffè, ammazzacaffè (con tanto di degustazione di liquori locali, visto che avevano capito che eravamo “forestieri”) e dolcetto offerto. Il conto finale è stato sorprendente: in tre abbiamo speso solo 45€, davvero niente rispetto a quanto e come abbiamo mangiato. E anche dopo pranzo ci hanno lasciati chiacchierare in tranquillità fino quasi alle 17, venendo a salutarci con un sorriso e qualche battuta simpatica solo alla fine.
