Everything about the Helvetia was perfect. The staff were friendly and very helpful and all spoke English (My Italian leaves a lot to be desired!!).||||The location is amazing with wonderful views across the lake from the rooms, the breakfast veranda and the restaurant. Lezzeno sits between Como and Bellagio and is served by busses but to make the most of our trip we hired a little Fiat 500 - very Italian and perfect for the tight winding roads! There was plenty of parking including three spaces in the garage which meant we had a nice cool car to get into as it does get very hot in the summer.||||You can easily walk to nearby villages (10 minutes) and Nesso (about an 90 minutes), look out for the paths that take you away from the road these are delightful and safer!||||The staff were always smiling and helpful and booked us a table in the pizzeria downstairs on three occasions - each time in the best position at the front of the veranda. They were really engaging and we joked with them plenty.||||The room had a fantastic view across the lake, the bed was very comfortable and the Air-con much needed! If anything the shower was a little on the small side but everywhere was spotlessly clean.||||The breakfast had plenty to choose from and was classically continental. Coffee was provided but if you wanted a capuccino or latte they will provide this from the bar with no additional charge. Food from the restaurant was 1st class.||||The cost of our stay was very reasonable and we felt we definitely got value for money.||||Finally I would like to use this forum to thank everyone at the Helvetia including the those behind the scenes (the chefs and the cleaning staff) for a fabulous week. We have already recommended the hotel to friends and would not hesitate to...

Read moreHotel : 5 stars for the cleaning staff. The rooms are super clean with a perfect eye for detail. The size of the rooms is good and the beds are very comfortable. The street is extremely noisy so it is not possible to open the window and have a good night rest. The first night our air-conditioning was broken but got fixed the next day. The walls are quite thin so you can hear everything that is going on in the hallway. So there is some room for improvement on that aspect. Parking space directly in front of the hotel. That's perfect too. The staff is friendly, breakfast is perfect too. There is a bar where you can have some drinks. You get some snacks as well, that's nice.
Restaurant: it has a nice terrace and the staff is very friendly. The food was great on the first night, we had two pizzas. The second night we ate spaghetti and risotto, the portions are way too small for the price. We still were hungry after finishing the main course and we are not big eaters. The third day we had some takeaway pizza that was not good at all. Didn't taste good and the whole pizza was wet. Also they add a percentage to the bill as some kind of Tipp.. even if you have a takeaway. So very mixed feelings about the restaurant, would not really...
