A very nice location and beautiful restaurant. The service is very well trained and nice to everyone. The dishes are not particularly good though and we tried to eat the local and traditional choices: lavarello and orange, mixed fried fish of lake, tagliatelle and missoltino, beef in crosta "in puff pastry" and cotoletta milanese 😐
we had as a starter lavarello with arancia sauce that was very mild in taste, almost if overcooked at lunch time and than kept for the evening service, there was no taste coming from the lavarello fish.
As a main I had a mixed fried fish of lake, which was nicely prepared and definitely the best suggestion for who wants to come to the locanda.
The beef in "crosta" was a remixed "beef wellington" with overpowering mustard and mushroom, not particularly good.
The cotoletta milanese was very soft and nicely made , definitely the second must have for who wants to stop by, only minor there is the price, with 27 euro one cotoletta, I understand inflation Is knocking to everyone' door but yet, not sure if worth it at that price.
Tagliatelle and missoltino, was very nice but not impressive, there was something missing there, probably a floral or fresh herb taste. The overall experience of the dish was overpowering in saltiness which comes from the traditional fish, this could be complemented with an herb or a floral note.
As a dessert we had only the campari "slush" which I do not suggest to have .
Overall, beautiful location a 5 out of 5, a very nice service 5 out of 5, a good but not impressive food 3 out of 5, at a good price for the...
Read moreWe had dinner with friends at Locanda Alberti. The restaurant was recommended to our friends and us - independently of each other - by locals. So we met up at Locanda Alberti on a warm spring night in Mandello del Lario. The first impression was already very good: a pleasant mix of locals and tourists, very clean, very friendly service. The food was also very tasty - from the carpaccio to the steak and even the seafood was delicious! The team was so friendly that we got chatting to the owner. He told us that he was launching his own brand of gin. As gin drinkers, we were delighted and took a bottle of ‘IL GIN GIAN’ back to Germany with us. On the evening we arrived, we mixed ourselves a gin and tonic - extremely tasty and highly recommended! Tip: be sure to ask for ‘IL GIN GIAN’ at Locanda Alberti if you'd like to take home some flavor of Lago...
Read moreThe hotel rooms are very good, I have nothing to complain about them 5/5. But, surprisingly, the restaurant lowers the given stars significantlly. Judging by the previous opinions we were expecting something above average, maybe even extraordinary. What we got was absolutly mediocre at best and overpriced. I ordered mare mare mare(I have eaten many similar ideas around Italy- that was the biggest disappointment)-it is supposed to be a soup, but worry not- its just a little tomato sauce in the bottom, no bread given! The calamari were bearly eatable, so chewy. Nevertheless, the last straw was uncleaned kings' prawn, which when touched poured greenish decomposing juices all over the rest of the soup. Absolutly unedible. When noticed waiter didn't care. You can stay there, but unless we were very unlucky,...
