Fior di Sale (Ristorante - Pizzeria) — Restaurant in Marsala

I never leave reviews for restaurants. I prefer to keep my likes, dislikes and location histories at least somewhat private from Google's all-seeing eye. But alas, I am writing this, on a public forum with my name and face attached, because I feel it deep down as my sacred mission to express just how abysmal and unpleasant eating at this restaurant was.

For a restaurant by the sea, I expected quality seafood cooked by chefs who know how to properly prepare it. I opened the menu to find a grilled fish trio and shrimp cocktail entree for a cool €20 - again, considering the location and clear local popularity, I thought the price steep but most likely well-deserved.

What I was given, however, should be considered a federal crime within Sicily's sea-faring borders. A "fresh" fish trio consisting of a single body of a squid, an overcooked, bland and unidentifiable white filet, and to top it off, that "shrimp cocktail" - which upon further inspection, and to my shock and surprise, turned out to not be a cocktail at all, but a single, gritty shrimp cooked to death in a deeply disturbing affront to the life it gave up for some poor sucker's dinnertime enjoyment. I was equal parts sad and nauseated.

If only my partner fared so well. On her plate, for €13, was an orange slop of macaroni and fish cubes, drenched in a sauce I could (and admittedly have) bought in liter-sized jars in a Brooklyn Family Dollar. The fish resembled canned cat food. A cat would have been very happy with this meal. Oh to have the sensibilities of a simple housecat.

The service was awful too, but that should have gone without saying when we noticed a €4 cover charge was included in the bill. Presumably because they would never manage to earn a tip.

Avoid avoid avoid!!! This place is horrendous, I can’t believe they are still even open. Don’t be fooled by the many people there - my guess is they come for the vibes, not so much the food. I see some people only coming for drinks and they leave… probably because they know how awful it is.

Extremely overpriced food for nothing. Got a “ three type fish plate with a shrimp cocktail” for 20 euros and it was.. literally ONE squid, ONE very dry/overcooked mysterious fillet, and no shrimp cocktail but a singular (ONE) over cooked shrimp.

Pasta sauce was salty and artificial - it likely came from a store bought jar. The fish inside it came from a can, most definitely... And then the salad was cheap lettuce and soggy arugula with CORN, completely undressed - no olive oil, salt, pepper, or anything in it.

Service was also bad - several broken glasses throughout the night. Some other table was served their plate of mussels with the sauce spilling out of the plate and onto the floor….

BEWARE RHAT THERE IS A MANDATORY SERVICE CHARGE OF 2 euros per person…. Probably because they want to have a tip but not work for it.

The best place in Laguna area...very nice people, big restaurant, garden restaurant, pizza, fruti di mare, spaghetti...total bomba, very quick service...I am travel agent from Prague, I am returning every day here, doesn´t matter lunch or dinner time...always I will get my energy up...Massimo the best boss, master in making pizza...play garden for children, parking gratis and comfortable...I don´t know, who not agree...for me total lovely place...just direct infront the sea...one of the best sunset place in Laguna...come, enjoy, you will be in love like me...I tested a lots of places...but this NUMERO UNO!!! Recommend you, evening is full all time, better to text or call for reservation...dont miss visit this place...
