Maharìa — Restaurant in Menfi

I celebrated my 18th birthday here and I can say I had the most wonderful experience thanks to the amazing staff. The atmosphere of this beautiful restaurant is breathtaking, the food is outstanding and the wine chosen by the staff was just perfect. All the things included in the antipasto were absolutely delicious… my favourite has to be the caponata with the addition of swordfish. The main dish I believe to be a traditional Sicilian pasta “busiate” with shrimp, pistachio pesto and zucchini… this was a beautifully balanced and delicate dish, savoured every bite. As for the second dish they brought some veggies and stuffed calamari (which unfortunately I forgot to take a photo of as I was too busy eating), again beautiful dish, full of flavourful. They ended the night with a fruit salad (with the option of adding liquor/sugar or keeping it simple). They also have a tea menu, which as a tea lover it made me so happy to see. One more thing I will add is that my family and I bought the cake from a different place, but unfortunately were left disappointed by the simple decor of the cake, luckily the staff of Maharìa offered to help and added some much needed colour (they added berries, fondant leafs and also made the pink roses larger)… this just goes to show how thoughtful the staff was. The night I spent here is unforgettable and I will definitely be going back. I recommend this place to anyone who wants to have an amazing experience with food...

Left hungry and felt not welcomed!

We visited the Restaurant for dinner on a Saturday night end July. When we arrived only a handful of the tables on the terrace had been occupied by guests. From the start the young head waiter ignored our table. It took about 30 min before the waiter allowed us to place our order for wine and food. The wine arrived swiftly and was served by the young and friendly waitress. By 11:15pm that night, 3 hours after our arrival at La Maiolica we had only received our wine and starters (=tasty) and no sign of the other food we ordered. All other tables around us received their orders and the general attention as you would expect from a good Restaurant. The young waitress just came to apologize for not getting our food, etc. We don’t speak much Italian and the head waiters English is very basic. Instead him teaming up with his female colleague (who speaks fluent English) to explain the menu and to take our order. The head waiter rather decided to ignore and to forget about our table. Esperienza soddisfacente nel cuore di Menfi, raggiunto facilmente con pullman da Palermo centrale. La cittadina di per sé non ha molto da offrire in termini di intrattenimento perché è sostanzialmente un luogo vacanziero per famiglie ed è piuttosto un gradevole appoggio per godersi l'incomparabile mare di Porto Palo e dintorni: una distesa sabbiosa e cristallina, ideale per i più piccini. Per questo motivo, una struttura gioiello come Maharia rappresenta una vera e propria oasi verde di relax e ristoro, a nostro avviso ideale per le giovani coppie. La parola d'ordine, qui, è disponibilità: abbiamo apprezzato in modo particolare la flessibilità della gentilissima signora Maria, ma anche la competenza di un suo giovane collaboratore che ha saputo consigliarci una buona pizzeria (Bbendicò) oltre che dell'ottimo vino da accompagnare al loro tonno pescato a canna. Ci siamo fatti coccolare dal profumo delle brioches mattutine gustate all'ombra del grande fico dividendo la nostra attenzione tra lui, la bouganville maestosa che avvolge il tetto della terrazza (creando una location unica) e la simpaticissima gattina nera 'Baghera' diventata subito mascotte del luogo. Io, vegetariana, ho potuto comunque godermi la cena in terrazza assaggiando piatti non prettamente specifici del territorio, ma comunque tradizionali siculi, per cui mi ritengo complessivamente soddisfatta. Una menzione speciale va all'assaggio dei dolcissimi fichi a km zero in uscita: un piccolo gesto di cortesia, ma molto apprezzato nella sua genuinità, che ha elevato ulteriormente la qualità di un'esperienza di soggiorno già botanica e fatata.
