La Buona Forchetta — Restaurant in Messina

This cafeteria style restaurant has an impressive selection of savoury bites. It’s very busy at lunch with locals clamouring to get a quick meal. We were served by the owner who was very friendly and accommodating. He served us up a huge portion of calamari, 2 types of Sicilian sausage, Braciole and we shared an Arancini stuffed with a savoury sweet meat sauce. If that wasn’t enough the owner gave us some complimentary pizza!

Everything was delicious but the Sausage and Braciole of pork were stand outs. We washed it down with a cold local beer from Messina!

We couldn’t finish everything and struggled to get back to our ship. We left Sicily with full bellies...

Previous reviews brought us here, and our experience will bring us back. Family atmosphere, and many patrons flooding in from all directions tells us this is a local Hotspot. Even though we're American and speak no Italian, the enthusiastic man behind the counter walked us through the variety of food available and even gave us a free slice of pizza that came out of the oven. The young lady behind the counter recommended a cold refreshing local beer from Messina. My receipt was 6 EU for 2 huge Arancini, a handful of assorted fried/breaded...

What an amazing experience. There we were looking for a quick lunch (and a toilet) and we happened on this place. The proprietor innediatrly offers us "strangers" some samples of his fare and asks whet we like. We said "Pizza and vino bianco" and it appears along with a large beer, some red wine & a panini.
