Bibendum — Restaurant in Milan

This beer and wine bar with very satisfying meals was close to our B&B. We called in at 9:30pm and got a table outside. There are about 12-16 outside seats as well as indoors.

There was a band playing outside on this Tuesday night: drum, keyboard, violin and bass playing there own interpretations of old movie and popular classics. It was a wonderfully relaxing musical balmy evening made even better by the food and drink. First time in my life I have been within 5 meters of a live band and still be able to have a normal conversation at our table. Perfect!

About half a dozen beers on tap. My wife had Nora and I had Isaac. Belgian I believe. Very good in mixes glasses.

Dinner was a smokey beef burger and roast beef on a bed of salad with slow roasted potatoes on the side. Sounds boring but not! Both dishes were excellent, the burger well cooked and "smokey" on a perfect bun with roasted potatoes and mayonnaise.

The roast beef was thinly sliced, mildly pink and succulent complimented by the pistachio dressing and the bed of rucola and other salad leaves and good olive oil.

We tried a few wines by the glass, all good value and interesting. I'm no expert on Italian wines so I can only say I enjoyed all the ones we tried and all €5-7 each per generous glass.

I had made a reservation for two for Saturday evening. Upon arrival, we were informed that our table would be shared with strangers. This is absolutely unacceptable and ruined what was supposed to be a special evening.

The food was utterly mediocre; you can easily find better options throughout Milan. For the price and the inconvenience, I expected much more. I will not be returning and do not recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a quality...

Siamo stati ieri sera in questa piccola birreria/enoteca dietro casa, con mio marito e nostro figlio. Avevamo prenotato e ci siamo seduti subito, ma poi abbiamo atteso 20 minuti prima di essere solo considerati (non avevamo neanche le tovagliette di carta sul tavolo). Nel frattempo abbiamo visto apparecchiare e chiedere le ordinazioni al tavolo i cui ospiti si erano seduti dopo di noi… Ad un cenno rivolto al cameriere, abbiamo ricevuto tovagliette, posate e bicchieri, ma poi abbiamo atteso altri 10 minuti prima che potessimo ordinare (ordine preso a memoria, senza scrivere nulla, ma succede spesso e ci fidiamo). Dopo 3/4 d’ora finalmente si mangia: peccato che la tartare da 260 g di mio marito sia arrivata da 130 g e la tagliata al tartufo di nostro figlio sia arrivata al rosmarino… ma dopo tanta attesa, pur facendo notare gli errori (2 piatti su 3 ordinati), abbiamo tenuto ciò che ci era stato servito. La qualità del cibo buona, ma non superiore ad altri locali in linea, nella zona. Purtroppo devo dire, invece, pessimo il vino al calice: avevamo chiesto un Nebbiolo del ‘22… chissà se poi ci è stato servito quello, la bottiglia non l’abbiamo vista. Peccato perché si tratta di una enoteca. Altri due punti di demerito per l’odore di cibo fissatosi sui vestiti e per le notevoli ragnatele presenti tra le mensole alle pareti del locale ed...
