Gran Bar Riviera — Restaurant in Naples

Welcome to Italy — where being a tourist means being a fool.

We paid €40 for two ciabattas and two cappuccinos at what’s basically a snack bar, not a restaurant — and got a side of arrogance and humiliation.

Apparently, sitting at a table requires a “service fee” you must pay separately — but no one tells you until an angry staff member shows up and makes you feel like an idiot for not reading the fine print somewhere on the wall.

Tourists beware: overpriced food, hidden fees, and the kind of attitude that makes you regret...

Il Gran Bar Riviera ha una lunga storia alle spalle e vicissitudini complesse e difficili..divenuto popolare negli anni 90 per il suo Buondi..ma bando alle ciance e approfondiamo ...il tutto oggi . Esternamente è brillante per certi aspetti attraente , quando si entra invece angusto e poco illuminato. Superata la soglia , sulla destra ci accompagna l'esposizione dei prodotti da forno è pasticceria..l'esposizione non è appropriata ,ma certamente sufficiente. Per dare un giudizio oggettivo , essendo in 4 decidiamo di prendere cose diverse, ergo cornetto crema , Buondi, brioche. La fattura dei suddetti è artigianale, buona la palatabilita, gusto morbido fragrante il Buondi è il pezzo migliore , molto meno cornetto e brioche, che relego, nella categoria non pervenuti. Al banco bar tre perso 2 troppo giovani senza esperienza che si trattengono oltremodo accanto all'operatore macchina, che a sua volta con fare , un pochino maldestro realizza 2 caffè ed un cappuccino. Il sapore del caffè rientra nell'anonimato assoluto , senza corpo , senza persistenza, temperatura inadeguata , certamente mediocre. Il cappuccino servito, ha una schiuma sufficiente e sufficiente anche la densità, ma permane la mediocrità. Dimenticavo, cosa intollerabile alla cassa , posta accanto al banco ,opera una signora di una tale sciatteria e di un tale disinteresse e maleducazione, che mi risulta difficile pensare , che non sia imparentata con il/i titolari, che tollerano .altrimenti ragione non sovviene a tale permanenza ..in epilogo, consiglio il bar Riviera esclusivamente per assaporare il prodotto nella fattispecie ( Buondi) altro non...

Before getting the bill, I'd have put 5-star review. But when the waiter brought the bill, suddenly his English became excellent and presented it to me as "without any services". I gave him a note of 20€ for a bill of 11€30. He, shamelessly, affirmed "that's OK like this?", I felt bad but didn't lose too much and replied "no sir, make it 15€". Anyway I would have paid 20€ if mentioned on bill for a so good nice service and food and drink BUT thanks to this tourist-killing method, I won't go back there! Owners, please...
