Osteria Scugnizzi - Ristorante Napoletano — Restaurant in Naples

Very negative experience. I called to book a table for 2 and was told there were no table available in the terrace at the time of the reservation (1pm). When we arrived, the staff insisted that all tables (indoor and outdoor) were reserved for 1pm, but the restaurant was empty, just a couple of tables occupied. We were offered the worst table at the restaurant (just outside the kitchen, with staff passing by every minute). No pizza is served for lunch, despite the restaurant is advertised as a pizzeria. We ordered appetizers, and asked for the bill. Since we were speaking English, the staff tried to overcharge us of 25% the total with items we didn't order; when I asked about it, they refunded the extra charge. We left about 40 minutes later, restaurant still empty. Additionally I left my phone number with the reservation to find out few days later that it had been signed up for a phone scam - I was receiving a phone call every day from a Phone number from Naples and, if answered, it would result in a charge. Definitely not...

We had dinner here with my family for my uncle's 80th birthday. It was a party of 10 and we had a variety of different dishes and pizzas. I highly recommend the traditional Neapolitan cuisine they have here: all the pasta, appetizers, sides are amazing, made with traditional recipes and fresh local ingredients. Before we ordered, the wait staff brought us a taste of their Genovese pasta (a thick sauce made with onion and beef) which was fantastic and we ended up ordering. We also had their Nerano pasta (fried zucchini and provolone sauce) which was also fantastic. We had the eggplant appetizer which was really good and the traditional friarielli (a type of vegetable close to rapini but much different) which were also fantastic! I can't recommend this...

Convinti dalle recenti recensioni positive, abbiamo prenotato un tavolo per ieri sera alle 20:30. L'accoglienza è stata sbrigativa e a dir poco sgarbata, ci hanno proposto un vino della casa di cui abbiamo ordinato tre calici (3 dita a bicchiere), due bianchi e un rosso. Sia odore che sapore sgradevoli, il mio rosso sapeva di aceto e anche i bianchi erano palesemente di bassissima qualità.

Nel mentre di decidere cosa mangiare abbiamo ordinato un paio di fritture che sono arrivate con mezz'ora di ritardo. Considerato il prezzo degli arancini che abbiamo chiesto ci aspettavamo una portata consistente, invece sono arrivate delle palline di riso piccole e asciutte.

Abbiamo poi proseguito con l'ordinare la portata principale, che è arrivata dopo un'ora da quando ci siamo seduti al tavolo: io ho scelto degli ziti alla genovese e gli altri due piatti erano degli scialatielli ai frutti di mare e una pasta alla norma con zucchine. Il ragù alla genovese era assolutamente bruciato, un sapore amaro che mi è rimasto in bocca per tutta la serata e la carne legnosissima, gli altri due piatti accettabili ma estremamente caserecci e raffazzonati.

Abbiamo preferito non ordinare dolci o caffè per evitare ulteriori sorprese. Il conto è stato a mio avviso molto alto per quello che abbiamo ordinato (€85) e mi ha infastidito che il vino sia costato €5 a calice. Avremmo potuto chiedere quantità e costo prima di sceglierlo, ma mi sembra in ogni caso eccessivo.

Il servizio nel complesso è stato molto sciatto e scortese, capisco sia un'osteria ma ci sono comunque degli standard da rispettare e la cura del cliente non dovrebbe mai mancare. Non consiglierei la cucina se non per le pizze che di aspetto sembrano appetibili ma che non abbiamo provato. Il locale è frequentato quasi esclusivamente da turisti che immagino possano aver lasciato delle recensioni sbilanciate poiché non abituati alla cucina italiana e affascinati dall'atmosfera...
