Il Cannon D'Oro — Restaurant in Nizza Monferrato

A very nice little restaurant at the border of the centre in Nizza Monferrato. It is a typical Italian family restaurant with excellent food and a great atmosphere. The owner, the fifth generation since 1891, takes all the time to stroll around and talk with the guests, most restaurants nowadays tend to forget this, a pitty. We had a lovely lunch (4 courses of excellent food) and local tastefull wine. We were there on a sunday afternoon after visiting the sundays flea market. Oggi sono andata a pranzo per la prima e ultima volta al Ristorante Cannon D'Oro di Nizza Monferrato, di cui alcuni amici mi avevano parlato bene. Purtroppo sono rimasta molto delusa. Mi è stato proposto il menù del giorno, sul quale non c'era nulla di mio gusto. Ho preso dal menù tradizionale un antipasto:peperoni con bagna cauda. Pessimi. Una salsa di sole acciughe con i peperoni che nuotavano in un liquido acquoso. Salatissimi. Come secondo 4 costolette di agnello con patate e fagiolini. Si è solo salvata la verdura. L'agnello era insapore e duro come una suola di scarpe. In compenso abbondava il grasso. Mi sembrava carne mummificata e fatta rinvenire. Mai mangiato così male.
