We discovered La Preja by chance while visiting Nizza Monferrato, and it turned out to be a memorable highlight of our trip. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by a gracious and knowledgeable hostess who made us feel truly valued and cared for.

Though the à la carte menu offered plenty of tempting options, we chose the degustation menu due to time constraints—a decision we didn’t regret. The restaurant itself is a hidden gem: understated yet elegant, with calming tones and a refined, minimalist décor that immediately sets the tone for a relaxed dining experience.

The degustation menu was a true celebration of Piemontese cuisine, featuring local ingredients prepared with care and creativity. Every course was flawlessly executed—each bite a harmonious balance of flavour and texture. The chef’s expert touch with seasoning elevated even the simplest of ingredients into something extraordinary.

This restaurant focuses on classic Piemontese dishes but served expertly by the friendly young staff and presented with a bit of flair by the kitchen team.

The a'la carte menu is reasonable and has many interesting dishes on it alongside the more classic options, and their "business lunch" (currently €16 for 2 courses) is hard to beat as excellent value. Well-priced and extensive wine list too.

For atmosphere, in the evenings on warmer months they have tables out in the pedestrianised street, so it's a lovely place to sample really good Piemontese food and soak up the Nizza vibe. Inside is simple but nicely done but I've not eaten inside in the evenings.

They also easily accommodated a gluten-free friend and the staff were very knowledgeable about all the dishes and even made a gluten-free amuse-bouche without being asked. Gluten-free pasta too!

Abbiamo pranzato in quattro al ristorante La Preja e l'esperienza è stata davvero eccellente. Il servizio si è dimostrato molto accogliente, con un personale giovane e spigliato, sempre gentile e attento alle nostre esigenze, rendendo il pranzo ancora più piacevole. Un plauso speciale va alla cameriera bionda (di cui purtroppo non conosciamo il nome), che si è distinta per la sua professionalità e simpatia, contribuendo a rendere la nostra esperienza ancora più memorabile.

Il menù offre una deliziosa selezione di piatti tipici della tradizione piemontese. Tra i piatti che abbiamo apprezzato particolarmente ci sono la lingua, il vitello tonnato e un primo piatto al tartufo, tutti preparati con grande cura e dal sapore autentico. La qualità delle materie prime era evidente e ogni piatto ci ha lasciato pienamente soddisfatti.

Abbiamo accompagnato il pasto con una bottiglia di Barbera d'Asti proveniente dalla loro cantina, che si è rivelata un’ottima scelta, con un gusto pieno e ben equilibrato.

Per quanto riguarda la location, abbiamo mangiato nella sala interna, che si distingue per un'atmosfera molto caratteristica grazie ai suoi mattoni a vista, che donano calore e fascino rustico. È inoltre possibile mangiare all'esterno, immersi nel centro storico di Nizza Monferrato, un’opzione davvero suggestiva per chi preferisce godersi il clima e l’ambiente cittadino.

Il prezzo è intorno ai 40-45 euro a persona, una cifra assolutamente adeguata per la qualità del cibo e del servizio offerto.

In conclusione, La Preja è un ristorante che consiglierei vivamente a chiunque cerchi una cucina piemontese autentica in un ambiente rilassato e accogliente, con un servizio che sa fare davvero...
