Agriturismo Scalelle — Restaurant in Otranto

Wow!!! Beautiful agriturismo only a few minutes drive from Otranto. All vegetables are organically grown on premises along with fairly raised animals. Trattoria La Scalelle is a special treat for dinner. Dinner begins at 8pm, reservation required? Our Airbnb host made ours for us upon our arrival. We ended up reserving for another dinner! Price is only 15-18 Euro pp!!! This price includes 6-7 prepared antipasti in large proportions! Your choice of pastas/ primi on the menu & the choice of 3 secondi/ meats on the menu. I recommend the cavallo/ horse braised in tomato sauce & a then dessert of fresh fruit and pastries. Wine by the bottle is ridiculously cheap & high quality! This was one of our favorite experiences in Puglia along with being the most affordable meal in all of Italy! Typical, simply prepared cuisine in a beautiful outdoor & casual setting. The staff are friendly & helpful. We arrived an hour early & enjoyed a bottle of their wine in the garden...

My family and I were in the Otranto area for the day and decided to reserve a table for dinner at Scalelle.

On arrival, we were amazed at the natural beauty of the area, surrounded by olive trees and large weeping willow type trees.

The atmosphere was very relaxed, there were a small fools ball table for the children to entertain themselves, a football pitch, playground and a small zoo.

Food choice was a set menu with starters, first course, second course, fruit, dessert, followed by coffee/limoncello. All prepared from fresh ingredients grown on the farm and served to us by the most efficient and friendly staff.

I absolutely fell in love with the place and would definitely come back if i were ever to come back to the area.
