Bacciomeo — Restaurant in Palaia

We are staying neer by at Borgo di Coleoli resort and we were looking for a good local restaurant, quick look in Google maps reviews I spotted this one The place itself looks like a royal restorant with amaizing wall paintings and the huge chandelier, very Italian palace atmosphere. We asked for tomatoes bruscheta (out of the menu) for starters (they were excellent) with the bread soaked just enough with olive oil and garlic We ordered 4 diferent pasta, bolognes, carbonara, tomatoes souse and carbonara e tartufo which was special for that evening, we also ordered the Firentina steak (700 gr) All the dishes with no exception was amaizing, the pasta carbonara was delicious and the special with tartufo was even better We had a very good house white wine The service was also great, plates replaced with every course You would have expect that the prices would be for royal as well but we were very surprised to find dinner to be much less than expected and very well worth the level of the food we had

All in all, just have a look at the pictures, they speak for themselves If you are in this area don't even think to skip this place

Amaizing...

Very nice place, good food, reasonably priced, generally friendly staff.

Reason for the low rating is that i ordered a t bone steak, medium. I got a rare steak (see image). As it was already cut, there was no constructive way for improving it anymore. So i didn't say anything, and instead focused on having a pleasant dinner. After the main course (i only ate half the steak) when we were about to order dessert, I politely provided feedback that the steak was not medium, but rather rare. This triggered a very unpleasant feedback by the waitress (~ you don't know what you are talking about, this is medium).

Factoring in that she already was giving very unpleasant monologues when we asked for a wine recommendation (~ in Italy we only have dry and parfumed wine) and her general attitude, we decided to skip dessert and paid the bill without adding a tip before we left.

Tldr: Don't order a steak and don't expect good customer service from the tall lady. Food is otherwise...

I guess we caught them on a bad night in the kitchen and with waitstaff. I was dissappointed with every course, my poached egg with truffle sauce was cold and lightly congealed (did not feel like sending it back because that tends to ruin the general mood for the meal), seafood pasta was decent, then overcooked lamb chops (completely gray inside and a bit tough). Wait staff failed to pick up on our displeasure because they checked in only once in 3 courses after the pasta which was ok - for a place with such a breathtaking view and ambiance (also reputation), we expected more. Also the house white was of lower quality than in much more humble establishments - i would not...
