I am writing this note in good faith not to harm. I hope this restaurant consider this as help and change some things. The restaurant has nice place. It looks very expensive so we had good feelings. They gave us very soon foccacia- it wasn’t so bad. After this starter finally they gave us our beers- little bit too late 😅 After that we get big salad for 14€ in this price we expected something magical but it was few ingredients mix in one big bowl and nothing more, no flavour, no taste, nothing. And then we get our pasta. Mine wasn’t that bad, it was pasta with creme and fish. But my girlfriend ordered gnocchi and that was a catastrophe. They put cold gnocchi on a plate, then tomato sauce and on the top mozzarella (but it supposte to be parmesan) and put this 3 ingredients to the microwave. Hot on the sides and completely cold inside. No taste at all, completely nothing and this cold. We politely report this to the stuff and we’re hoping for at least apologize or maybe small discount but again nothing. We just want to pay and live but we had to ask 2 other waiters for check and after 20 min of wait we could finally leave. 2 guests, money 60€, 6 waiters, few guests but a lot of problems though.

Sempre scocciato, hanno rischiato di far cadere addosso a mio figlio una pizza bollente (che ho salvato io) e non mi sono sentita nemmeno dire scusa. Le pizze che abbiamo ordinato erano buona, seppur la mia fosse completamente bruciata. Già all'ingresso sembravano scocciati del nostro arrivo!!! Peccato!! Penso non ci torneremo. Aggiungo in risposta al proprietario che lo decido io dove mangiare e se non avevate posto sarei andata da un altra parte! Noi siamo stati gentili nel chiedere, voi di certo non siete stati poi gentili nel trattamento. Tutta la sera scocciati come se fossimo in peso!!! Per darmi un tavolo e trattarmi così! Avrei preferito di gran lunga che mi diceste che non c'era posto!! Fino a prova contraria ho pagato per ciò che ho consumato e per un servizio totalmente assente. Avrebbe fatto più bella figura a scusarsi e probabilmente sarei anche tornata!!! Ma lei ha letto che stava cadendo una pizza bollente addosso a mio figlio e il cameriere ha poi lanciato il piatto sul tavolo?? Ma si rende conto!!!

Restaurant pour dîner uniquement, mais quelle belle trouvaille dans ce patelin un peu perdu mais avec les qualités d'un grand restaurant de grandes villes. J'ai été foudroyé par la créativité des plats comme les spaghettis à l'oursin et au céleri, mariage réussi entre le Al Dente, l'iode et le végétal. L'équilibre de goût et de cuisson presque parfait du mixte de grillades de la mer (calamars, gambas, espadon, poisson) dont le grand gagnant est la fraîcheur, digne d'un Michelin, mais au prix plus que raisonnable. La pizza Diavola fait une célébration des piments et des salamis si spécifiques de Tropea, réussite totale. Petit faible pour le tiramisu si bien fouetté à température gustative parfaite. J'ai accompagné d'un petit verre de prosecco qui mériterait d'être plus sec. Je ne regrette pas d'être sorti un soir de pluie pour aller diner au Il Portale, ambiance feutrée dynamique, service impeccable. Si vous passez vos vacances dans le coin, c'est l'adresse incontournable de goût du coin.

wow, we came here the first night after a long drive from vieste. (it was the only restaurant open on sunday night on the main street. so take note if you are hungry and come here. it is also one of the few places that stay open during siesta time. hard working people.) my husband ordered the spaghetti with clams and he loved it.i ordered eggplant parmigiana with swordfish. it was ok as it was not very hot.today we came back for lunch and we ordered insalata tropeana. big portion of very fresh cucumber, lettuce and red onion. and i ordered this local dish (i cannot say it in italian as the name of the salami is very exotic) it is local pasta made with spicy salami and grilled eggplant bits. it was beautiful to look at; and the explosion of flavor is to die for. i kept making "umm" sound as i could not believe how good it is. it is different, and it is so good.i have been traveling to italy since 2000, and southern italy for the past 5.i have had so many pasta dishes, and i immediately told my husband this is now one of my favorites: it is different (i love pasta with sea food but you get there every where in italy), it is simple yet packed with flavor (like the best made spaghetti con aglio, olio e peperoncino!) i come back just for this dish! When we entered the premises, a lady was sitting at the entrance who was walking between the cash register and the table with a face after the title what are you doing here, I felt uncomfortable only after some time I thought that it could be a person managing in one word, embarrassment. We didn't have a reservation so my husband asked the waiter if there were free tables, he replied to ask the next person, and the next one to the next person from the service. Wooow! The third waiter in turn said we could sit inside. After giving the card, you could hear only dead silence and the sound of the bell for the waiters very annoying. The dishes did not impress us, the pasta with shrimps was unremarkable, and the shrimps themselves were already peeled and cut into pieces, the first time I encountered such a thing. Huge rubbery octopus with a terrible tasting sauce. For such a price in Tropea we have delicious dishes with a typical Italian atmosphere, music and great service. Too high thresholds, not worth...
