Update: my first food poisoning in Italy after eating raw seafood here. A very expensive one.
A disappointment. The place looked very fancy and interesting at first sight. The location is beautiful, however, the quality of cooking and price to size ratio is questionable.
We enjoyed the amusebouche and the oysters, however, some of the raw mussels left me feeling very nauseous and bad on the stomach, and I eat a lot of seafood so I know how to recognize good quality… the restaurant tried to tell us that it is the nature of a particular mussel that the taste is full of ferrum… okay, but why did the rest of the same mussel (we had 4 pieces of it in total) taste alright and one tasted like sea toxin? What’s more weird, we have not received the wet tissue to clean our hands after eating the raw seafood, which we normally experienced in other sea restaurants…
The main courses sounded very well, but they were very small compared to other restaurants in the region. The squid was very firm and hard to cut with a knife… at the end we tried the panna cotta. It had no vanilla inside like a proper panna cotta, moreover it was partly frozen inside and softer on the outside. The price was absolutely inadequate and we will not recommend this place at all. It has great potential but more care should be put into the general...
Read moreOverall it’s a restaurant loaded with potential, but unfortunately it fails to deliver in every aspect on food and service.
We were seated at 2105 and it took them 15 minutes to return to take our order. Our aperitif arrived and moments later so does the antipasti. The pace of the evening increased which was good.
The raw tuna, cuttlefish and prawns were quality products but were under-seasoned and lacked flavour as a result. The prawn dish was also under seasoned and needing more on the palate.
We had not finished the antipasti and the primi arrived. Where is the communication between the front of house and the chefs? We were not ready for the next course…
The ziti was nice but this time it was far too salty! Is the chef tasting any good that he sends out to his guests?
The troccoli was served with overcooked zucchini and a limp fried zucchini flower and needed some more punch. Texturally and flavour just off.
The chef is not far away from outstanding food, but the execution was off on each dish we tried.
The front of house were not able to provide service that was sufficiently attentive.
The views are nice but there’s plenty of good food in the Gargano region and you don’t need to come to a place where the guests care more...
Read moreBeautifully situated open air restaurant on a fishing platform (trabucco, still in operation). Interior dining as well, the interior appeared nicely renovated and comfortable. I tried the recommended cocktail made with olive oil, it was deliciously frothy. We shared a wonderful seafood salad and were provided olives, fresh bread and taralli. The chef also sent out two delicious complementary fried anchovy appetizers. All the food was good but we went here for the view and it did not disappoint. On the way out I asked for the bathroom and was sent outside, thinking, “okay now I’m going to an outhouse”, I was pleasantly surprised, great bathrooms too! A warning when you are driving down the dirt path to get here, you’ll be expecting to arrive at a wrecked dive bar, but trust me, keep driving! Only on the way put we notice the hilly side is set up with intimate stadium style seating in the...
