Ristorante Pizzeria Lo Scalo — Restaurant in Pieve Ligure

Gourmet pizzeria on the beautiful Ligurian coastline that is well regarded amongst the locals. Worth a visit if you’re in the area.

I went there twice in a row. I found the pizza variety very wide - something to expect from a gourmet pizzeria. They have filled crusts, pizzas made with unusual types of flour and of course all the classics. I usually prefer wetter pizzas, so I found theirs a bit dry.

The bathroom is downstairs past this somewhat corridor that is dimly lit and bit creepy if you go down in when it’s night time.

Ok 1st - the food is delicious from pizza to proper restaurant food. 2nd - 80% of the restaurant got good but slow service. I have no problem with slow. Problem was that my pizza, that followed an appetizer, wasn't late or delayed but forgotten. When I asked about it I was told it was coming soon. 20 minutes later, my dining companions had finished eating and still no pizza. I said I don't want the pizza now and got a song and dance explanation which was a total rationalization for why they messed up. All this to say, when the service is bad it is terrible. Food is the best in Pieve Ligure so may be worth a roll...

The pizza was good and the interior was very beautiful. The lightning was very bad, because of the ceiling fan that crossed the light it felt like a strobe light was turned on instead of the usual light. We asked the staff to turn it off they refused to do it and the only option they offered us — to sit on the next table (that had the same problem).
