Truly amazing restaurant. I have eaten in a lot of restaurants in the south of Italy and never have I found such a perfect combination of original and traditional with such nuanced flavours. They take the classic dishes but make them unique - carefully balancing delicate flavours like sweet/spicy, meat/fish, sweet/salty. A fantastic culinary experience, taking the original Calabria but giving it a unique twist. Every ingredient is carefully chosen and prepared, going down to the bread and homemade focaccia on the table. Aside from the food, the family who run the place are just lovely. You can trust them to give you honest advice on what to eat and drink, and even just to have a chat and spend time with the local people. The waiter Jacobo really knew his wine explained well the local wines and their pairing.

The best restaurant I have eaten at on ‘la Costa degli dei’, where you often find dishes with the same price but with completely different quality products and industrialised / commercialised for the growing tourist market. We loved it so much we went back again two days later to try more dishes, and would have been back again and again if I had more time!

Thanks so much to the whole family for the fabulous food and wonderful evening(s)...

This looked so good! But was a great disappointment. The prawn/mango linguine was overcooked and bland. Looked and tasted like something a child would cook. The steak was presented as something equivalent to beef tender loin but was extremely chewy. No one asked how we wanted it cooked so we expected medium but got it partially raw/bleu. Not salted, not seasoned. A good grilled surface-taste, though. The chef/restaurateur was a bit snobby about not offering french fries but "oven baked potato". It turned out to be diced potatoes, again not salted or seasoned at all. It also arrived about 20 minutes before the steak though ordered as a side to it. Staff very attentive and kind, but all in all the place felt pretentious but...

Wow! We really enjoyed our food! The service was friendly and very welcoming. The pasta was incredible according to my son. I had a plate with grilled seafood on a salad. The best cooked squid I’ve had and super soft and tasty. And then the desert! My son had tartufo ice cream. My husband and I shared the panna cota and the parfait! All was excellent, but the parfait was incredible!!! Almond parfait with pistachio cream. One of the best deserts I’ve ever eaten. PS: I am gluten free and this was not a problem, except for pasta and pizza I could eat almost everything and the food was very tasty and prepared with care! If we ever return to Pizzo we will definitely...

Michele
