Firstly, the food here is excellent. It all seems to be very well made and is wholesome and delicious. The drinks are also very good - apparently over 40 beers, although I didn't try them all.
Secondly, the cats seem very well cared for and are obviously loved by the owners. When they are in the mood they will sit on your lap (the cats, not the owners) and when they are not in the mood they will saunter off with a supercilious air. Well, they are cats. They have their reputation to think of.
Thirdly, the whole place is spotlessly clean and feels welcoming, modern, bright and airy.
All of these points are very important to us - but there is something more. This place is much greater than the sum of its parts. It is difficult to say exactly what it is or why it has this effect on us, but when we visit we leave feeling uplifted and positive.
We love traveling and have been to many exciting and exotic places all over the world - including a lot of cat cafes. During lock-down we talked about all the places we have visited and which we would most like to visit again, once lock-down was over. Despite many 5 star hotels making the list, Gatto Bistrot was (and is) our top choice. So we rented a place in Portici for 3 days and travelled half-way across Europe to visit a cat cafe (twice). And we are glad we did.
I could try to explain a little more clearly exactly what it is about this place that makes it so special. But instead, I suggest you go and find out for yourself. It's a short hop from Herculaneum and Naples, and you will not be disappointed.
We are already trying to think of excuses to return. My birthday? The...
Read moreI had a wonderful time. The place is incredibly cute and cozy, with a warm atmosphere that makes you want to stay for hours. The staff was very friendly and helpful, and it was great that they spoke both Italian and English—perfect for tourists who might not know the language. The food was fresh and absolutely delicious, and I was pleasantly surprised by their wide selection of beers. Everything was perfectly clean, which made the whole experience even more enjoyable. On top of that, they have board games you can play while relaxing, most of them with fun cat themes, which fits the spirit of the café beautifully. The decoration is charming and playful, with little -cat centered- Harry Potter touches, it really adds to the unique and cozy character of the place. The cats are adorable, friendly, and very comfortable around people, making the whole visit feel even more special. Overall, Gattò Bistrot is a must-visit spot in Naples for cat lovers, or anyone just looking for a cozy and welcoming place to enjoy good...
Read moreMy boyfriend and I visited per my request during our holiday in Italy - the last day too actually - and it was better than we imagined! He didn’t know there were real cats lol, he was so happy when he realised! The moment we walked in we were treated with such kindness and patience (something we hadn’t had a lot of up to this point) and it such a relief and comfort! We were spoken to in English, introduced to the cats, helped with understanding the menus, etc - it was more than we could have wished for. Although we didn’t get food and only had drinks they were the best drinks I have hands down ever had! Both the theme, presentation and flavours were just amazing! I’ve told my boyfriend that we are definitely coming back to Italy just to visit the cafe again and try the food and have some more drinks!! Would 10/10 recommend for any travellers in the area who are looking for a comfortable, chilled out, ease free environment! Everything was just so amazing - thank you guys 😁🐈
We visited on the 17th...
