We were staying in the hotel and had been looking forward to dining at the restaurant, but unfortunately the experience was a letdown. The service was inattentive- the two waiters on duty seemed disinterested and frankly couldn’t be bothered. We ordered a couple of glasses of wine and after a long wait with no sign of them, we politely asked for an update. Instead of bringing the drinks, the waiter chose to lay two more tables- despite there being only one other table occupied in the entire restaurant.
We were then brought an amuse bouche that turned out to be what looked and tasted like a frozen chicken nugget- not only underwhelming, but also completely inappropriate for my vegetarian mother. No one asked about dietary preferences beforehand.
The atmosphere didn’t do much to lift things either. The tanks of live lobsters on display in the reception felt more unsettling than appealing, and overall, the setting lacked warmth or charm. The menu was okay- the real highlight was the aubergine parmigiana, which was absolutely delicious and easily the best part of the meal- so we ended there.
Unfortunately, even our wine glasses arrived dirty.
It’s a shame, as this could have been such a lovely evening. But with such lacklustre service and attention to detail, we wouldn’t eat here again - especially with Casa Colonica...
Read moreThis is the hotel restaurant inside Resort Tre Fontane, but it was much better than expected. The food was fresh and well prepared and the servers were all quite helpful.
We started off with a tempura cod that was wonderfully fresh and light. The chef sent a small “pizza bite” before this that was quite welcome and tasty. We knew we were in for a good meal.
I ordered a bottle of Exultet from Quintodecimo and was very happy with how it paired with our entire meal.
I had the spaghetti with clams and she had the pasta and potatoes with seafood. Both were quite good, but I preferred mine.
To close out the evening, we shared their tiramisu. It was a deconstructed version and quite good.
They also provided a limoncello at the end of the meal and this one was quite good. I prefer those that don’t smack you in the face with alcohol.
Overall, quite a lovely first evening...
Read moreThis is a beautiful restaurant in a gorgeous location, with a good selection of great food and local wines. The staff are very attentive, and our waiter Francesco and the Maitre d Ernesto did a fantastic job of looking after us and they made sure we enjoyed our evening. The food is delicious, the ingredients are incredible quality and each dish is crafted to the highest standard. We had octopus, zucchini flowers, incredible ravioli and a linguini dish with a delicious tomato sauce. The mozzarella they use in the restaurant is DELICIOUS, I have never tasted such incredible mozzarella in my life! Even the breadsticks are amazing. I would happily...
