In response to the owner’s reply in another review :
Your response is both disappointing and full of bad faith. The core issue here is not about refusing to pay for something we ordered — we have no problem paying for what we knowingly request. The problem is entirely about transparency and principle.
Let me be crystal clear: • The extras were suggested by your waitress, not requested by me. • At no point did she say these extras (fries, tomato slices, sauce) would be charged. • In good, honest hospitality — even when customers themselves ask for extras — it’s standard practice to mention any added cost upfront. You did not. • Claiming it’s written on the menu that “extras are charged” is false. I checked the menu carefully — there was no such indication.
You also claim the waitress checked on us and asked if everything was okay when clearing the table. That’s simply untrue. She did not clear the table — another server did — and she never asked us about the food, so I never had a chance to “confirm” anything. Also, whether we liked the sandwich or not is beside the point. This is not a review about food quality — it’s about integrity.
Finally, I stand by what we said about the portions: • A few scattered fries (literally 4 or 5), • Two tiny slices of tomato, • And the smallest smear of harissa I’ve ever seen — barely a few drops.
Charging €4 extra for that is absurd when it was not clearly stated in advance. And to suggest that I invented or exaggerated this to avoid paying is frankly insulting.
We know the standards in Italy and elsewhere and we always pay for what we order. But we expect clear communication and honest practices — not tricks, ambiguity, and false justifications...
Read moreAbsolutely terrible experience. I ordered a simple sandwich, and the waitress — without me asking — suggested a few extras. At no point did she mention these would come at an additional cost. I assumed, like in most restaurants, that a bit of sauce or a couple of tomato slices would be complimentary or at least clearly priced on the menu.
To my surprise, the final bill included 4 extra euros for the following: • €1.50 for literally 3–4 fries • €1 for 2 slices of tomato • €0.60 for a tiny drop of Harissa (which I only asked for when I said I wanted something spicy)
When we questioned the charges, the staff were completely dismissive and defensive. Their only justification? “This is Italy.” That’s not an excuse — it’s just poor customer service. They refused to acknowledge any mistake or even the idea that it might be misleading to propose extras without informing the customer that they are paid.
The waitress even tried to apologize at one point, but the kitchen staff shut her down and told her not to — shocking behavior, completely unprofessional.
The sandwich itself was less than €7. Charging over 50% more in surprise add-ons is absurd. Especially when the extras were laughably small and would be free anywhere else.
This place is dishonest, rude, and treats customers with zero respect. Avoid it at all costs. There are plenty of far better, more transparent and welcoming places...
