What can I say. I'd been looking forward to our visit to this restaurant for 3 months, having initially booked in April. So many things were perfect... the food - which is fantastic quality and justifies the price, the view - which is breathtaking, and the service was friendly and perfectly timed - once we were sat down. So why not 5 stars? Because of the poor way we were dealt with when we first arrived. We were the first people there, and once I gave my name, a table in the bar area, and not the terrace, was hastily prepared and we were shown to it. When I mentioned that this could not be right as we had booked in April, I was initially told that any online booking would not be for the terrace. Again, I said that could not possibly be right, as the online system did not mention an option of terrace or bar. I was then, rather abruptly, shown my booking on the restaurant system that 'proved' that I had 'chosen' the bar. Why on earth would anyone choose the bar? How embarrassing this all was, in front of other clients waiting. The reason why I know that the system did not give the option was that - once I'd booked - I sent a WhatsApp message to the restaurant to double check that we were on the terrace, and I had confirmation back. What really upset me and my family was that once we had confirmation we had booked the terrace, no apology of any sort was given and, to make matters worse, when we reached the terrace we were shown to one of the back tables - yet we were the first people on the terrace! That was too much and I complained, to be then reluctantly shown to one of the front tables. . All of this was recoverable - an apology and recognition that we had not been treated correctly would have solved the matter there and then. If there is something wrong with your online booking system please correct it. If you make a mistake and embarrass your customers, then please apologise. Overall, once I had calmed down, we all enjoyed the evening and the food. Just what a shame it was that the way we were treated at the start...
Read moreA very interesting place where even if you book a table on the balcony for the views you’ll be surprised and sit in the corner so that instead of the view at the typical Tuscan landscape you’ll have an unique view at the parking as well as at the “storage room” and its surroundings in the neigbor’s garden.
The staff seems to be unfriendly towards the tourists leaving the impression that you’re not welcome but don’t be fooled, it’s probably only your imagination.
The menu is available only through scanning a QR-code printed on the plastic cubes which doesn’t work as intended (transparent plastic) but again, it was probably only ours and other guests at the time problem with the mobile phone camera.
Bread for the appetizers (bruschetta and liver crostini) was once freshly baked but it’s probably our fault that we came too late in the evening (at 20) so that the bread was already stale and hard.
The pizza was OK, portions were generous but the sourdough was in my opinion too sour, but again, according to the owner it is probably my fault and a bad habit of eating “poor quality flours and baking powder”. After all I am very grateful that I got a unique chance to taste the “real” high quality sourdough bread and pizza that was much different than other (apparently poor quality) sourdoughs that I had before.
We ordered also a bootle wine but the waitress presented us another one in Italian so that we didn’t know what’s happening but that’s great because we could experience a total immersion and train our Italian skills as well as try some other (more expensive) wine.
Overall an interesting experience.
Edit: changed the wording of my recension after being threatened by the owner that my recension will be reported to some authorities even though that my original recension was honest and based on my personal experiences without...
Read moreReally wish we had a better review to write for this place, while the view is incredible it is really not worth the service received... I booked this restaurant for my 30th birthday two months before our visit to Italy and made a point to contact the restaurant via social media to request a table with the view. Unfortunately, when we arrived we were sat in the back corner of the restaurant and were told a table with the view was not possible. It was extremely disappointing as we made a point in our booking to request this and made the reservation TWO months in advance. The team did try to fit an extra chair onto the table in the front however they told us it would obstruct the diners next to us and frankly made us feel like a burden for asking. Having worked in the service industry myself for 5 years, it really didn't appear to be an issue but we did not want to argue about it. We then asked to be moved to a side table towards the back to have some view which they did kindly do for us and gifted us some bubbles as an apology which was appreciated. However, after we sat the service was really slow and we felt like a burden. The irony was that the table in the front that was being held, ended up being for a group who arrived after sunset and after we were nearly finished eating... The food was okay, certainly nothing to shout about. The staff was also unable to provide toilet paper in the bathroom as we left - we waited 10 minutes following our meal to use the restroom then just left. The best part of our evening was the kind caring hostess who had only been working there for 2 weeks. Would suggest...
