Ristorante Il Caminetto — Restaurant in Rocca di Cambio

I am Italian and I have to write this because I felt at loss when I took my friends from London to this place.

We waited 3 hours for a table in the place next door, where we were treated awesomely by Guido (called Piano B, highly recommended for a high quality drink). We we finally were accepted we were told we could not have a free table downstairs because they had to lay the table for us and they were “tired”, and either we took they table they wanted upstairs or we could leave. We felt mis-treated after waiting 3 hours for that table and view, and quite frankly did not trust the place had our vest interest at heart. We moved to ‘il Giardini di Andrea’ (another 5-star highly recommended restaurant) and we were treated with the usual Italian welcoming attitude. Sorry becuase I think the atmosphere and food was supposed to be great but we couldn’t have it. Hope this helps them do a better...

Durante il nostro soggiorno a Rocca di Cambio abbiamo cenato al Ristorante Il Caminetto, immerso nel Parco Naturale Regionale Sirente-Velino, e ne siamo rimasti entusiasti. Appena entrati siamo stati accolti con calore dallo staff, che ci ha accompagnati al tavolo nella sala inferiore: un ambiente rustico, caldo e familiare, dove ci si sente subito a casa. La cucina è tipica abruzzese e si sente fin dal primo assaggio: l’antipasto misto di salumi e formaggi locali è stato un ottimo inizio, con sapori genuini e ben bilanciati. Lo stinco di maiale è stato il vero protagonista della cena: tenerissimo, si sfilacciava da solo, saporito e cotto alla perfezione. Il tutto accompagnato da un ottimo vino della casa. Anche le altre proposte del menù, tutte ben pensate, raccontano la tradizione locale con materie prime di qualità. Le porzioni sono generose, il rapporto qualità/prezzo eccellente, e lo staff sempre gentile e disponibile. A fine pasto, oltre ai classici dolci e amari, il ristorante propone anche un tocco originale e tradizionale: zuccherini immersi in liquori artigianali. Noi abbiamo assaggiato quello alla liquirizia e all’anice – un modo originale e piacevole per concludere la serata. Un consiglio: se capitate in estate, prenotate con largo anticipo per mangiare sulla terrazza. Senza dubbio, Il Caminetto è il miglior ristorante di Rocca di Cambio – e forse dell’intera zona.
