Al Giardino D'Abruzzo — Restaurant in Rome

Absolute best Italian food we've ever had!!! This place is off the beaten path in the middle of a neighborhood. It had great ratings and wasn't too far from our hotel (the Crowne Plaza) so we figured, why not? They had reservations booked out the whole night and we're apprehensive to squeeze us in but the manager (possibly owner) asked if we'd be willing to finish our dinner in 1.5hrs before the reservation showed up. Being from the U.S. where dinners rarely take that long anyway but also where a restaurant would've sat us without a thought to the reservation and told them "too bad, we're running late" if that party showed up without us being finished, I respected his honesty. We promised to be done in time and proceeded to have the absolute best Italian dinner we've had in our entire trip! we went there reserving a table for two. after arriving we didn't wait long but it was not that somebody came to ask us if we need a table or something. i took a primo piatto vegetale with vegetables for 1.20 €of value where the plate was 7€ . as second i had ravioli with spinach and ricotta, +/- 7.50€, treated like frozen food with plain tomatoe sauce on top. the waiter s weren't very friendly, didn't seem to care to much : ) for the desert and coffee, we and our neighbours had to wait about 20 min, asking several times. for smokers: you have to ask for ashtray ( if you find a waiter ) . unfortunately not so nice experience, would not go again.

The place is well off the main touristic areas you would normally go in Rome, nonetheless really unique if you want authentic local experience, tasty food, amazing pizza and good wine. Can you imagine to get anywhere in Rome in a restaurant a bottle of tasty Barolo for 19 eur?! Here this is possible. We walked in on a busy night, they greeted us nicely, found a table for four very soon, we felt very welcomed. Tried their pasta, amazing typical Italian pizza and the "dolce".
