Da Ciro alla Magliana — Restaurant in Rome

This restaurant was fantastic. 5 out of 5 and also the owner who’s from Napoli was really kind and cool and offered his recommendation for where we should eat when we visited Naples!

And sure enough we took him up on that restaurant and went there and it turned out to be great too. Ultimately this restaurant though does great pizza and the owner and his family seem great. It’s a real family ran restaurant from the top down. If you are ever in town looking for a good local that’s definitely not a tourist trap or to busy this is a good place to go and more realistic to what a true Italian restaurant experience...

Ristorante-Pizzeria di quartiere appartenente alla tradizione napoletana. La pizza è quella vera! C'è anche quella fritta fatta veramente ad hoc. I primi sono squisiti (gli gnocchi alla sorrentina sono buonissimi!). Hanno anche un vino della casa molto buono. Quello che sorprende però, è trovare a Roma i veri friarielli veraci napoletani! Per concludere la cena, è possibile trovare anche il babà o la pastiera e per finire un amaro della casa molto buono. Il locale è sicuramente di tipo nostalgico/folkloristico. Anche il personale è tipico di questa tipologia di locale, ossia aperto alle battute e pronto allo scherzo, oltre che non improvvisato e con anni di esperienza. Tutto ciò contribuisce a creare un'atmosfera familiare e rilassata che ti fa soprassedere su alcune carenze. Difatti, il locale è sicuramente négligé ed a tratti anche Kitsch per il maldestro richiamo alla tradizione partenopea, come le finestrelle finte e le magliette dei calciatori napoletani appese. Se però si decide di venire in questo genere di locale, non ti aspetti certo di trovare Palazzo Petrucci, ma per vivere una serata in allegria ed avere la certezza di mangiare bene. E non è quello che conta di più?! Alla fine della serata può anche succedere che, come è capitato a noi, Ciro, il gentilissimo proprietario, vi omaggi con delle castagne arrosto che magari sta preparando per se stesso sulla classica vracèra! P.S. il locale è dotato di sala esterna, che in realtà e tutt'uno con la parte interna, ma utilissima per accedere al ristorante senza...

I was really pleased with how tasty the food was — the pizza came out juicy, flavorful, and aromatic. Everything was top-notch, you can tell they cook with care.
