Ristorante Da Federico — Restaurant in San Benedetto del Tronto

So the food was very good, no complaints about the service and the restaurant looked quite nice as a terrace on the sea side.

We came here because the restaurant was suggested by 2 different italian acquintances (one of them even local), and ignored the lower reviews on Google thinking that with so much inside intel we might discover a hidden authentic gem…

We ended up having the most frustrating experience of the 10 days we spent in San Benedetto. We ordered a “Gran grigliata mare”, the most expensive second course in the menu at 30 EUR and there was really nothing “gran” about it - I would appreciate there were 200 to 250 grams of sea food… We also ordered a side dish for it at 6 extra EUR but the waiter forgot about it.

In comparison, the other main dish we ordered at 20 EUR was a big swordfish on a same size platter which included grilled vegetables (see attached picture to get an idea of the more than decent size of it, the photo was even made AFTER eating the some middle vegetables from it). We left angry and hungry after spending 75 EUR as we didn’t want to risk spending another cent in this restaurant.

In retrospective, we realize the “gran grigliata mista” has no details in the menu about what it includes, not to mention weights. This kind of gives them the freedom to include whatever they want in it. Maybe if you are italian and get to talk the details with the waiter you might end up eating very well. We looked at the people around and had many plates full of food… yet we as tourists felt...

Sicuramente un esperienza da non ripetere… Decidiamo di festeggiare l’acquisto dell’auto nuova, andando a fare una cena di pesce in uno chalet della riviera delle Palme.. La scelta non so perché è caduta sullo chalet “Bagni da Federico” Il giardino all’ingresso è molto curato, elegante e impreziosito da due grandi opere d’arte contemporanea in metallo molto belle e suggestive. Sala molto ampia, piuttosto ordinata ma poco accogliente e con poca atmosfera, musica di sottofondo pessima. Ci accomodiamo e decidiamo di partire con la carrellata di antipasti compresi i crudi. Per il vino decidiamo insieme al cameriere di partire con una bollicina locale, ma non so il perché ci viene portato un vino locale fermo (cantina sconosciuta) facciamo finta di nulla.. Nel frattempo arrivano i crudi, accettabili tranne le 3 tartarre che non mi sono piaciute e le canocchie che onestamente non metterei mai nei crudi. Poi tutta la carrellata degli antipasti, discreto il filetto di spigola marinato, ma per il resto stendiamo un velo pietoso. Cozze gratinate strapiene di pane e olio con retrogusto non piacevole, cicala di mare bollita senza sapore, idem per il polipo, seppie con piselli gommose e insipide. Le pietanze servite sui caratteristici piatti decorati scalfiti per via degli urti in più parti a mio avviso impresentabili. Per i primi e i secondi, abbiamo deciso di evitare e non rischiare, vista la situazione, e decidiamo di chiudere la cena con alcuni dolci, mediocri anche in questo caso, specie la cheesecake che aveva lo strato di biscotto intriso in maniera eccessiva di burro, veramente sgradevole. Che dire, nel complesso purtroppo devo dire che non ho mangiato bene e con poco gusto, il servizio non mi è piaciuto, la location del ristorante è stata poco accogliente, il conto leggermente alto, sicuramente in futuro non me la sentirò di consigliare questo ristorante a chi mi chiederà di voler mangiare del buon pesce a San Benedetto del Tronto, ed infine io e i miei commensali sicuramente non torneremo più da...

We were there twice. First time was ok. Service fast, friendly and efficient. Second time, just two days later was very disappointing. Service was slow and the order not correct. But the biggest disappointment was the food. I love seafood and am a strong believer in seasonal food. Being served frozen Scampi (3 for 20 €!) was cheeky. The biggest Desaster I saw though were the mussels in July! The season is winter. Not summer so it must have been frozen too. My advice to Federico. You're beside the sea. Get fresh seasonal food and change the menu accordingly. Oh yes... and...
