We have been on holiday in Italy for a month and have loved our time here. Italians have always been friendly and those working at restaurants and in hospitality have been helpful and always treated us well.
We had an experience at this coffee/gelato shop which concerned me - I felt the woman who served us tried to overcharge us €10.
We ordered one espresso, two americanos, one croissant, one fizzy drink from fridge, three €2 gelatos.
When we came to pay, the unitemised bill was €27. When we questioned this (in Italian), the woman we dealt with said “si” and quickly told us what we had bought in Italian.
We came back to the table and after thinking about it, the bill just seemed too much.
When we went back to the woman and asked again if €27 was correct, she got out a calculator, quickly typed into it and again said it was correct.
We then asked for the price of each item, and when we confirmed this, she again added up the items - then apologised and refunded us €10.
This behaviour worries me - if we had not persisted in ensuring we were paying the correct amount, we would have been overcharged €10.
I’ve never experienced any problems like this ever before in Italy.
If you come here for espresso, gelato or a meal make sure the billed amount is correct.
We regret leaving her a €2 tip when we now feel she tried to overcharge us ☹️
If I owned this business I would be really concerned that a staff member was overcharging tourists. Based on our experience and the woman twice denying we had been overcharged (even adding it up on a calculator and saying €27 was correct), I would be concerned about how this behaviour and my review may be viewed by other tourists.
As I said, we have never ever experienced this anywhere...
Read moreWe ate as a family of four, two adults, two children. No children menu. Food was OK, I had the Breasola pizza and it was so dry. There was no oil or balsamic on the table so couldn't add any moisture or flavour. My husband and daughter had a pizza also, husband said it was really average and my daughter really didn't enjoy hers. She ordered four cheeses (menu didn't list the cheeses) and it had gorgonzola on which she really didn't enjoy. My youngest daughter loved her bolognese and we all had joy in watching her polish it off. The children enjoyed their deserts.
It's in a lovely location and we loved the scenary. The service was non existent, once you get your food, you have to flag someone down there after. Price was overall relative to other tourist traps around Lake Garda.
We would return on another trip, but didn't love it to return on our most recent holiday. Once in the week was enough. Shame as it was on our doorstep, but didn't wow us enough to...
Read moreAttempted a meal here twice. First time the staff repeatedly walked past us as we waited to be seated. The restaurant was not busy and it was obvious we were waiting. Eventually we were sat at a table and given a menu by a waitress who looked thoroughly annoyed. She did not return to take our order so after a while we left at which point the 3 staff standing inside decided to see if we wanted anything. We decided to try again but were ignored again so sat ourselves at an empty table. We asked a waiter for a menu but he had to confer with another older man who I think was a chef. The other man told us we couldn’t sit at the table we were on and that they wouldn’t serve us until we moved. We asked where he wanted us to sit but the only response we got was that he wanted us to move and then he pushed the table we were sat...
