As a regular visitor of Creme Caramel I cannot place the comment of the family Osseman. Apart from the perfect location at the shore of lake Como in serene silence, because directly situated at the lake itself, I always appreciate their food. Having outstanding Pizza's, made in a traditional wood oven with fresh ingredients, my personal favorite is the beef fillet with green pepper- or wild mushroom sauce. Really worth trying. As I understood miss Osseman ordered a salad and green vegetables, being vegetarian. I would like to mention that Creme Caramel is not a vegetarian restaurant. And in Italy vegetables are just a small side dish to the main dishes. They are not so important in Italy because pasta's, fish and meat are the dishes, Italian people crave about. So blaming the restaurant's quality in public, based on only ordering and tasting a salad and a vegetable side dish being vegetarian, is to my opinion a bit biased. Relating it to the other very positive comments, it's at least misplaced. If miss Osseman would have explained being vegetarian and would have asked what is possible being vegetarian in a friendly way, I know the staff would have been more then helpful to offer a nice vegetarian dish within their capabilities. Having vegetarian friends myself eating here i never heard any complaints. Finally I would like to say that, visiting another country with its own great food culture, it might be nice to first accept this culture. Being vegetarian is perfectly OK, but you cannot expect that visiting an Italian restaurant, vegetarian food is their top priority. I hope miss Osseman, after maybe reading this, can have a milder opinion about the Italian food culture and restaurant...

I wanted to share my experience with the sincere hope that it reaches the owner of the restaurant.
We had heard great things about your pizza and were excited to try it, especially since our Airbnb was located just above your establishment. As seasoned travelers who have visited Europe many times, we’re aware of the coperto (cover) charge applied for dine-in service. However, we had initially ordered a pizza and then quickly changed our minds to take it away.
My husband happened to touch a napkin during the brief moment we were seated, and to our surprise, we were charged €3 for it. When we politely inquired, the staff member responded with unnecessary rudeness—as if we had done something deeply offensive. It wasn’t about the €3; it was about the tone, the attitude, and the lack of basic courtesy extended to tourists.
Lake Como thrives on tourism, and every visitor carries memories of their trip long after it ends. Sadly, because of this one encounter, my last memory of this beautiful place is not its scenic charm, but the face of someone who treated me poorly for something so trivial.
I genuinely believe that you, as the owner, have worked hard to build your restaurant’s reputation. However, all it takes is one unpleasant interaction to undo that goodwill. I respectfully request that you reach out so I can share this experience in more detail. I say this not to complain, but in the spirit of constructive feedback—because I believe your establishment deserves to be represented better.
Thank you for taking the time...
Read moreStaying in a local Airbnb and this is the most local restaurant, within walking distance, that serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. Yet to try lunch however have had a few dinners here. Cannot fault the pasta, or the steak. Generous portions, lovely views of the lake, you must try homemade Creme Caramel and Tiramisu. Really nice service as well. Will be coming here for the rest of the break no doubt. Great coffee in the morning also, breakfast is no frills but will still set you up for the day . Has outdoor seating overlooking the lake and has indoor seating if you need more warmth. Great pizza, thin base and large. 10/10. Cannot fault it! Hard to believe that the negative reviews are an accurate reflection of this restaurant based on...
