Our recent visit to this Italian restaurant left much to be desired, painting a stark contrast to what one might expect from a dining establishment in such a beautiful country. The experience was, unfortunately, marred by an array of disappointments that lingered far longer than anticipated.
Firstly, the food fell significantly short of expectations. What was served to us could only be described as excessively greasy, not just lacking in the finesse and freshness Italian cuisine is celebrated for, but also leaving us with an unwelcome, lingering discomfort. The greasiness wasn’t confined to the dishes alone; it seemed to be a theme that extended to the staff as well, which was disheartening.
The ambiance, which could have offered some redemption, was instead tainted by the presence of a particularly displeased table manager. Clad in all black, his shaved head became a beacon of discontent as he navigated the dining area. His demeanor was far from welcoming; a concoction of anger and impatience seemed to fuel his interactions, not just with the customers but with the atmosphere of the restaurant itself. Witnessing him pace back and forth, visibly seething and muttering to himself after exchanges with various patrons, was unsettling, to say the least. Such behavior did little more than contribute to the already unpalatable atmosphere, suggesting that perhaps a step back from the floor—perhaps permanently—might be in his best interest, especially if this is a regular occurrence.
This restaurant, regrettably, fell far below the standard one would expect or hope for, especially in a country renowned for its culinary excellence and warm hospitality. Read moreNever expected to be scammed in italian restaurant… when we came to the restaurant the waiter recommended for us to get the dish of the day, he said that the price was 22 euros and it’s for two people. This sounded like a good deal, even though other dishes had pretty similar prices, but because waiter said it was for two persons it sounded like a better deal. So we gave it a try. And we explicitly said that okay we will get one to share (we were two people).
Food was fine, nothing to complain. But when the bill came, it was not 22 euros, but 44 euros. So unfortunately it was not a better deal. It was just something to get more money from us by saying it is a deal for two even though it wasn’t. This was so sad.
We asked waiter why this “deal” is 44 and not 22. He switched and started to explain that this is our fault that we didn’t understood him. Then the manager came. At first he was just telling fairytales on how if police would come we would be wrong. But lucky for us the other table got scammed the same. But when the bill comes they calculate the same dish twice. So something that should have cost 22€ becomes 44€. The boss or manager tried to argue with us but we managed to convince them to remove one of the amounts. The other table just behind us had the exact same problem. They also charge 9€ service fee 😂 There are many better restaurants in Sanremo so just save yourself the trouble.
