Talia — Restaurant in Santa Teresa di Riva

Such bad service that in our last visit we walked out before even placing an order.

I would not recommend going here.

It's a shame because the food is fairly good. It's so surprising to me that in 2023 you can't work out the very basics of a decent table service: allow customers to eat food. This simply requires having waiters available to wait, and that are not inappropriate when attending the customers.

This is our tale, for those curious to read it:

Over the last year we visited Talia 3 times.

The first time we visited it was off season. We were originally attracted to the restaurant because of its Sicilian inspired name ("talía" means "to look") and the original menu. We enjoyed some tasty pizzas but noted that the service was quite slow for an almost empty restaurant.

The second time we visited in August (peak season) and we REALLY struggled: it was impossible to place an order. We asked the waiters 6 times if we could order. It took a 35min wait to be able to order, if you can believe that.

The evening was also accompanied by some really inappropriate jokes from the waiter.

At some point we were chatting among ourselves, and the waiter randomly dropped by and said "oh am I interrupting some serious discussion?" while chuckling. At another point after dessert he observed "oh is that a smile of satisfaction?", before turning to me to say "oh and where is yours? Surely you can show me one?".

Inappropriate, awkward and marginally creepy.

We nevertheless decided to give the restaurant a third try as the food was quite good and we were driving by.

After sitting down and finding it again impossible to place an order, we decided to walk out: hungry and having wasted 27minutes.

My recommendation to fellow readers: avoid, there are other nice restaurants in the area as...

We have been in town for 2 weeks, and we were recommended to try Talia through a friend. Our family loved the experience eating here. They accommodated a group of 12 on the seaview terrace, and were incredibly kind in doing so. When we arrived early for our reservation, we found the staff eating together in preparation for their long evening of work. It was a beautiful sight to see such a tight knit group preparing for a shift together. And yet, they still took the time to prepare our table early.

My wife is Celiac and dairy intolerant, and they took care of her meal first to ensure it was safe to eat. They took care of the 4 children at the table with their meals as well. Our meals were delicious - antipastos of Calamari and Mussels, and dishes like risotto, pastas, pizzas, were all very well made. Tiramisu and Cheesecake desserts were to die for.

Buonasera, ho dato 3 stelle solo perché alla fine il pesce era buono... Tavolo fissato per le 22.30,.. Arrivati in ritardo, quindi colpa nostra dapprima, ma arrivati lì pensavamo che fossero un po irritati invece con nostro stupore abbiamo dovuto aspettare perché il nostro tavolo non era pronto e come noi anche altre persone.. Cmq ristorante pieno ci può stare ma sedersi a mezzanotte anche no... Cmq apparte l inconveniente iniziale, pensavamo a goderci la cena, prendono l ordine, tutto ok, peccato che ci arrivano gli antipasti e e qualche primo insieme, ora vabbe la fame a quell ora, ma così mi pare esagerato, abbiamo chiesto di portarli via perché dovevamo iniziare l'antipasto e ci hanno risposto che dovevano lasciarli perché non potevano portarlo indietro in cucina!?!?! Stiamo scherzando?? Un errore vostro e io devo mangiare il primo freddo, assolutamente no. Portano via il piatto.. Scusandosi dicendo che avevano fatto confusione con le comande e ci può stare. Cmq proseguiamo la serata, ah in tutto questo avevamo richiesto sempre da bere perché ne acqua ne vino erano arrivati.. Tornano i primi e siamo rimasti tutti senza posate, penso che il mio compagno si sia alzato 3/4 volte per lamentarsi e riprendere il servizio.. Cmq per completare l opera ci hanno portato dei secondi in più, una volta specificato che erano in più, è arrivato un cameriere con un altra patata arrosto in più, e c è li ha voluti lasciare dicendo che ormai è fatta.. Cmq in tutto ciò ci hanno anche domandato :VOI NON SIETE DI QUI VERO? Lascio pensare a voi ciò che ho pensato, ma una di noi, ha risposto di non preoccuparsi che non veniamo più a rompervi, ovviamente ridendo.😂 Cmq finito di cenare spariti tutti, ne ci hanno chiesto del caffè, praticamente hanno abbandonato il nostro tavolo, a quel punto ci siamo alzati per pagare, e alla cassa si sono scusati per tutto e volevano offrirci la cena, so che magari qualcun altro al posto nostro avrebbe accettato ma abbiamo chiesto di voler pagare e semmai farci uno sconto, perché non era il nostro intento questo.. E così è stato... Un esperanza così con un servizio così soprattutto non mi era mai capitato.. Una cosa però che ho notato quasi tutti intorno a noi mangiavano pizza, ma un tavolo come il nostro che ti ordina tutto ristorante penso sia da "coccolare" un po' di più o perlomeno il servizio adeguato come è giusto che sia, visto che paghiamo anche discretamente.. Vabbe spero sia una cosa che sia capitata solo a noi, e gli errori possono capitare ma a tutto ciò un limite. Spero che la mia sia una critica costruttiva.. E ripeto il pesce era buono. Ecco le...
