Panificio Il Buon Pane — Restaurant in Savoca

This was one of the highlights of our trip to Sicily. The focaccia was just delicious! It only cost us 6 euros for two, and it was more than enough for the two of us. It's like a pizza, where you get a choice of toppings, but it is on a bread like substance. The first night we sat and ate with the locals in the street. It's a very simple place with just a few things on offer. We found it a refreshing change from all the other fancy restaurants nearby with their big menus. On our final night we took one away with us to eat on our terrace. The loaves of breads with tomorato or vegetables in them, which the baker sold during the day, were like some thing I had never tasted before and were just delicious. Farò innanzitutto una piccola premessa. Il panificio in questione si trova in uno dei borghi più belli d' Italia che è Savoca. Non a caso cinquant'anni fa venne scelto come set dal grande Francis Ford Coppola per girare alcune scene del Padrino. Per noi ormai è come tornare a casa nostra e tra quelle stradine ripide e quei paesaggi da presepe non poteva mancare il nostro grande amico Nino nonché titolare del panificio " il buon pane". Qui abbiamo assaggiato quella che per noi è la più buona focaccia messinese mai mangiata...gli ingredienti sono la verdura che è la scarola, acciughe, olive, formaggio, olio pepe, origano e pomodoro. Tutto dosato alla perfezione in un impasto soffice e digeribile da mani esperte e dalla passione del nostro amico Nino. Poi un buonissimo pane cunzato con pomodorini secchi, olive, acciughe, formaggio e poi pane con pezzetti di pomodori secchi, oppure con olive o con pancetta e formaggio e ancora biscotti sempre freschissimi in tanti modi... E poi lui e i suoi figli tra i quali Gabriele che ne fanno un piccolo gioiello di gentilezza e professionalità! Insomma Savoca è anche e soprattutto fermarsi a mangiare da Nino... un'esperienza di sapori che difficilmente potrà dimenticarsi! Questa sera dopo la solita scorpacciata di focaccia e pane cunzato ci sono stati offerti i biscotti e un buonissimo sorbetto al limone. Che meraviglia....ci...

Top place in Savoca! We visited as a family and had a wonderful experience. The owner was incredibly welcoming and quick to serve us. He was attentive to the children, joked with them, and even gifted them some delicious cookies.
