Da Nicola — Restaurant in Savona

I went out for lunch with my family. We arrived at 12:00 when they opened and were the first ones there. Despite that, it took 50 minutes before we got our food.

While we were waiting, a rude woman came around and asked all the guests who had been to the toilet, without giving any reason for the question. There was some paper on the floor outside the restroom, which a waiter later picked up.

When I asked for the bill, I received it but then had to wait even longer for her to come back with the card reader. I ended up going to the counter to get help, but even there I had to stand and wait while she ignored me.

The pizza was okay, but didn’t have much flavor. We’re disappointed with the service, and I’ve never experienced someone going around and questioning their guests in such an accusatory way about who used the toilet. Very strange and...

Exploring the little town from the port of call during our cruise we found this little place in front of a government building. "How more authentic can this be?" I shared a bad pizza experience in Rome (out from a microwave) and the owner back then, Mr Livio told us to stay in but we just had breakfast on the ship, when we returned in the afternoon with more ppl from our group he said "oh sorry, the forno guy just left", went out to the street and returned "The forno guy is here!" Then we had the most delicious italian lunch that I still remember from our trip to Italy back in 2016. It took too long for a owed review, but I thought that if i still remember I should do it. Hopefully all it's ok after Covid...

Exceptional Restaurant, a hidden local gem well worth visiting. Has some truly local treats as well as some Neapolitan classics with fresh and authentic ingredients. I recommend the pasta in squid ink with bottarga -a local delicacy- as well as the pizza of the month. Would return anytime and wished I lived here year-round to do so. Friendly staff, quick service, great recommendations when in doubt, fantastic range of local and national wines (try the Vermentino, it's heavenly). Worth a quick call to secure a table Friday and Saturday evenings. Lovely space, incredible art by renowned artists on every wall, and fantastic freshly made desserts...
