I have always been a fan of castles and fortresses and I won't miss the chance to visit this one! You could enter the fortress without having to pay except for the museums and the current film viewing at night. At the top you could see the cityskyline and the sea! We went to one of the museums and the entrance costs 5 eur (entire price) or 3 eur (discounted price) per head. The receptionist is accomodating and well-informed of the things showcased inside the museum.

Beautiful fort in the city of Savona. There is no entry ticket for this fort and it’s one of the most amazing places in the city of Savona. You can have a direct sea view from the top side of the fort. There is a beautiful art gallery also at the base of the fort. You need to walk a bit to explore this fort. In case you have plenty of time, it will not take more than couple of hours to explore everything in this fort. Follow us for more suggestions

Free entry, but on our visit on Monday, the archeological museum was closed and a lot of construction workers were busy building a stage. Little information on the fortress and how it is used, no people giving some explanation but this would be expected if it's free. I would be happy to pay for better experience. I'm no architectural expert, but parts of the fortress are renovated in a very basic way with recent brickstones and some newer, unstyleful buildings. They more or less ruined the old fortress. Also, the view to the east is over a factory terrain is spoiled by an ugly factory terrain.

Si trova sull'omonimo colle, tra i giardini del Prolungamento e la vecchia darsena. È stata edificata edificata dalla Repubblica di Genova a partire dal 1542 a seguito della presa definitiva della città nel 1528. Ingloba anche la Loggia del Castello di Santa Maria o Castello Nuovo del 1417. In questo spazio trovano esposizione il Màr-Civico Museo Archeologico e della Città di Savona e il Museo Sandro Pertini e Renata Cuneo. Nel 1830-1831 vi fu imprigionato Giuseppe Mazzini e la sua cella è ancora oggi visitabile. Il nome ha due derivazioni, cioè da "Pri-a-màr" cioè pietra sul mare secondo una delle interpretazioni etimologiche, o "Pria mä", pietra mala, secondo una più accreditata versione in quanto l'altura è costituita da gneiss scistoso Oggi è un punto di ritrovo culturale e sociale: d'estate la piazza d'Armi diventa un teatro a cielo aperto con la programmazione di pellicole cinematografiche e aprono varie botteghe e laboratori artigianali che sono centri di attrazione turistica. Dalla sommità si gode di una vista impareggiabile sulla città, sul litorale sino a Vado Ligure e soprattutto sulla darsena vecchia e sul porto. Inoltre è possibile fare un piccolo spuntino utilizzando comodamente dei tavoli da pic-nic.

It's a beautiful fort which was nicely maintained but sadly when I visited the place was under repair and not able to explore the whole place but the views from outside as well as inside the fort are breathtaking and good to bring kids, family and friends.There is no entry fees here and parking is also available.Lots of places can also be visited along with this place as many other places are also nearby.

la fortezza del Priamar. Essa si erige sulla costa savonese, in una posizione strategica in grado di dominare una vasta porzione di orizzonte, da ponente a levante. Il termine “Priamar” sta a significare “pria a mà”, appunto “pietra sul mare”,,il Priamar è una imponente struttura che si erge al di sopra dei tetti del centro di Savona, offrendo, dalle sue alture, una vista mozzafiato su tutta la città e sul mare. Ottimo anche solo per passare un pomeriggio passeggiando, o rilassandosi nelle zone verdi seduti all’ombra di un pino marittimo. Nelle giornate più limpide, se si è particolarmente fortunati, si possono scorgere all’orizzonte persino le coste della Corsica. Un luogo unico che merita di essere scoperto e vissuto nella sua totalità. Un luogo da non perdere. 🏰 COME ARRIVARE: La fortezza del Priamar si trova al ridosso della costa, per arrivarci si può optare per l’autobus dalla Stazione in direzione della Priamar o con la macchina. In quest’ultimo caso, dall’uscita dell’autostrada basta portarsi su Corso Ricci e percorrerlo con direzione verso il mare fino all’incrocio con la ss1, li seguire le indicazioni per il complesso monumentale che si trova a pochi metri.
