Villa Gaiangos — Restaurant in Syracuse

I don’t like doing negative reviews, and I realise this place is “rustic” (cheap), but honestly our experience was pretty awful. The pork escalope was slimy as the flour hadn’t been fried off before sauce added. The carbonara was lumpy with curdled egg. The pizza dough was incredibly salty. The waiters were sort of friendly but not very interested. There was no wine list. I asked what reds that had and they just came back with one bottle. The food is so lovely in Sicily it would be a shame to waste a night...

As previous fellows/feedbacks said, its a typically italian family style restaurant with vintage decor. Kitchen is great, genuine and very tasty. Hospitality however is lets say a little clumsy, but to be fair its fast and reliable. We felt more welcome and treated as guests you want to have in many other places to be transparent. Siamo stati al ristorante con un gruppo di amici, i camerieri ci hanno fatto accomodare subito e devo dire che sono stati molto gentili! Se non fosse che quando è venuta la proprietaria per prendere le ordinazioni è stata molto scorbutica e maleducata. Quando stavamo ordinando abbiamo chiesto varie portate e alcune c'erano e altre no, ma questo va bene, può capitare .. stavo ordinando il primo e chiedo la "pasta con le vongole " e dopo di me ordina un mio amico che chiede la pasta con i frutti di mare e lì la signora con un tono alterato e sbuffando ci dice o anzi ci impone che dobbiamo ordinare la stessa cosa tutti , perchè altrimenti non riescono a stringere con i tempi, e lì ovviamente abbiamo detto che comunque volevamo le portate che abbiamo chiesto prima. E lei ha girato gli occhi al cielo dicendoci "ok va bene, mi prendo la ca*ziata". Così una mia amica ha detto che volevamo andare via e lì subito ha chiamato "Mario" urlando per farsi vedere e sentire da tutti, clienti e non. Insinuando che lei cortesemente ci aveva chiesto se potevamo ordinare le stesse cose e che la mia amica maleducatamente ha detto che voleva andare via.
