My husband and I went around lunchtime to order several dishes for takeout.. we arrived at maybe 1:30pm. We started to choose our dishes and one by one the waiter said “we don’t have that”.. next dish, “we don’t have that”.. “no”.. they didn’t even have mussels. What Italian restaurant so near to the sea doesn’t have mussels at this time of year. They didn’t even have several types of fish. So we ended up ordering pretty much 6 of the same dish (because that’s all they had) and 2 appetizer dishes.. the old waiter was visibly frustrated with the amount of dishes or the type of dishes we ordered.. maybe 30 minutes later the guy came out and said that they didn’t have enough pasta for the dish and had to use half of a different pasta... The place started filling up for lunch. People came and ordered their meals and their meals were brought to the table.. several had came and left at this point. I understand that diners eating in the restaurant are typically priority but you still have to get takeout orders out of the way, especially when we’ve come before and had been waiting. We ordered water, we ordered soda while we waited. At some point it was almost a joke. My husband asked a different old waiter what’s going on with the food, and that people who have come after us have ordered and received their food already.. the waiter very nonchalantly told him that they ordered before.. my husband called him out saying that’s not true because we were in that restaurant when there were only 2 tables there - both at the end of their meal. The rest came after us. The waiters did not seem apologetic, appeared disrespectful and did not seem to care that we had been waiting for so long. At the end, close to 3pm, we walked out. They missed out on a large amount of money and lost long time customers as my husband and his family and I have been ordering pizza from them for years as he and I come from NY twice a year.. I suppose the difference was that we only picked up pizza in the evening. We have never ordered anything else nor have we had lunch there. And when we would pickup pizza for dinner there was never anyone eating in the restaurant! We will never go back as the lack of simple dishes and ingredients was absurd and the blatant disrespect and poor service were extremely disappointing! We decided to go to Osterio Del Porto, ordered the same amount of dishes and it was ready in 20min. Go...
Read moreWonderful place, welcoming to locals and tourists alike. Our waiter spoke a bit of English as did the owner. On 3 occasions we ate there they went out of their way to make our meal special, made suggestions about what dish to choose from the menu, what wine would suit better, etc. On 2 occasions during the week the restaurant was very quiet but when we came on Sunday rather late in the day (3pm) it was heaving with locals. they still welcomed us warmly, served us a 3 course meal and couldn’t have been more accommodating. The owner came over and looked after us. The food was the best compared to other higher scored places in Naples, fish very fresh, steak thick and juicy, portions large. On Sunday they offered us an extra starter because the wait for the pasta was going to be 20 min. We had take away pizza from them once and again it was really good quality and very quick. Prices are reasonable if not a bit lower than average. They really enjoy feeding you in La Smorfia. Parking on the pavement outside, not a big deal. No negatives, I wish we had places like...
