Sorrentino Trattoria Di Mare tenda rossa — Restaurant in Trieste

I honestly don’t know where to start, but this is a WARNING - The breathtaking view drew us in what would become one of the most disastrous food experience of my life. We should have left the moment where they started to mention what items on the menu or parts thereof where not available. Nevertheless we ordered our food.

The first course arrived and the term „bland“ would still be an exaggeration of the flavors. More than half of the mussel shells where unopened and therefore not safe for consumption and lacked any kind of maritime flavors. The Paccheri of my daughter lacked most of the ingredients on the menu and where topped with a sad display of cold mozzarella.

After waiting for another 1.5h the main courses arrived and again had nothing to do with the versions of the menu. Ingredients were randomly replaced or not added and after we requested the missing „salsa sorrentia“, the special house sauce for the 3rd time we were presented with a big bowl of mustard to add insult to injury.

Do not - under any circumstances- be fooled by the views and avoid this place...

Abbiamo cenato in 2, partecipando a un evento organizzato per la notte delle stelle cadenti. Bella location, buona musica, ma quanto al menù e al prezzo avrei qualche riserva. Mi sarebbe piaciuto mangiare alla carta con vista mare, invece, essendo organizzata una serata a tema, il menù era uguale per tutti e dal nostro tavolo il mare non si vedeva perché alberi e cespugli coprivano la visuale. Quando mi sono alzata per chiedere un cambio tavolo, ho notato che nell'altra terrazza, (molto più panoramica) mangiavano alla carta. Mi è seccato molto, ma non ho voluto chiedere spiegazioni perché altri avrebbero sentito e non volevo mettere nessuno di malumore... Però anch'io avevo chiesto al telefono di poter mangiare solo quello che ordinavo!!! Ci sono stati serviti vari antipastini, formaggi e primi... Non mi hanno entusiasmato, ma il tutto presentato bene e abbondante... ma la parte peggiore è stata la grigliata. Tutti a fare la fila per prendere pollo salsicce e una valanga di wustel che nulla c'entravano con gli antipastini di mare. La carne era speziata con uno strano retrogusto dolciastro e non l'abbiamo digerita. La verdura andava condita direttamente sul tavolo dove erano appoggiati i vassoi della grigliata... Ovviamente non c'era spazio... Magari per la verdura bisognava prevedere uno spazio a parte... Invece chi mangiava alla carta aveva i condimenti sul tavolo. Attendevo speranzosa il dolce. Sono arrivati: un mini baba', una tartelletta al cioccolato e una piccola sfogliatella... Che non meritavano per nulla. Ma dopo un pasto così abbondante, dove avete mescolato di tutto, in una caldissima serata di agosto, non potevate finire con un gelato o un sorbetto? 97 euro in due persone (perché ci siamo concessi 1 calice di vino a prezzo maggiorato perché non era compreso nel menù)... è sproporzionato rispetto alla qualità del cibo offertoci. Lo stesso scontrino per un buon menù di pesce lo avrei speso più che volentieri. Risultato: non ritornerò. Mi sembra di aver gettato via una serata e un bel...

Very nice restaurant on an awesome location. The staff were very nice and friendly even though we were late, unfortunately they given us good suggestion on food or wine, but overall good. We can’t say the same for the food. We had a tris of tartare, the croaker and salmon were ok but the shrimp tartare was not very fresh and the taste was not the best. We had two main, I had a tuna carbonara were the fish was over cooked and not very tasty, my girlfriend had a clam pasta which was not very fresh, and quite small (usually vongole veraci are big and full) and many empty shell in the plate. Would not recommend the place...
