Buddha Ristorante Indiano Torino — Restaurant in Turin

Leaving 3 instead of 1 star cause the people there were very nice (or maybe had to be nice! Read below)

I don’t know how this place gets great reviews.

You come out of there smelling of food for 1 week and must bring your clothes to the laundry ($$$)

I asked for the classic Indian tray and they told me they don’t have it even tho the pictures on Google show it

I ordered chicken tikka masala and I got a dish full of oil that was not chicken tikka masala (see picture)

Naan also were served with oil which is not traditional and weren’t that good

After seeing that I ate with my hands, in the traditional Indian style, the waiter panicked and offered me a lot of free drinks cause he knew the food wasn’t proper.

I also double checked with my Indian friends and they confirmed all that I wrote.

Service and atmosphere is good. Food I struggled with. Let's start with a premise - I'm Indian.

Tarka Daal - good Sweet lassi - out of stock Palak Paneer - very sweet (almost as if there was sugar inside), lack of jeera/dhania/mirch Mixed tandoori grill - lamb chops missing, chicken tikka on the bone had no spices. Felt like tomato sauce instead of spices Naan - ok, not done in a tandoor, but was ok Chapatti - oddly fluffy, as if it had yeast inside... but taste was good Onion pakora - these were not pakora - but onion rings. No spices in the batter to make them pakora! sheek kebab - dry, and while there were some spices, it was overall bland and served on wilted salad papadum & pickles - offered by the restaurant,...

The menu at the restaurant was large and varied, with mostly North Indian dishes, with no South Indian or other regional cuisine available. While the taste of the food wasn’t the best I have had, it was still of good quality and quantity.

The restaurant had several dishes that had been adapted to the Italian palate, such as the additions of local herbs, spices and seasonings. This was understandable, as it is not easy to find all the ingredients necessary for Indian cuisine in Italy.
